Tiny Snippet of Album News
Not sure if it's been posted - one nice quote:
Pearl Jam Self-Releasing New Album, Reissuing Debut Album Ten
By Swapmeet Louie ⋅ February 10, 2009
Pearl Jam will be hitting the studio soon to lay down tracks for their ninth studio album, which they plan to self-release later this year. That seems to be the trend these days. Nine Inch Nails and The Black Crowes have both self-released their latest albums… I wonder if that makes them all “indie” bands?
The new PJ album has been in the works for quite some time now. Some instrumental work was done last summer, demos were put to tape in December, and bassist Jeff Ament tells Billboard.com that Eddie Vedder has put rough vocals on about half of the work done in December. For this new release the band will be working with producer Brendan O’Brien. This is the first time the band and O’Brien have teamed up on a full PJ album since their 1998 Yield release. In a teaser quote from RollingStone.com, Vedder says, “The new record feels good so far — really strong and uptempo, stuff we can sink our teeth into.” (you can read more in the magazine’s print issue that is on newstands now).

In just over a month (March 24th to be exact), what I consider to be one of the best Pearl Jam albums, their debut album Ten, will be reissued and available in four different special edition packages. Pearl Jam announced the reissue last December, and you can pre-order now on pearljam.com (random pre-orders will be selected and signed by the band). Album extras include:
Remaster of original Ten album + remix by producer Brendan O’Brien • DVD of previously unreleased 1992 Pearl Jam MTV Unplugged performance with 5.1 surround sound audio remix • LP of the band’s 1992 “Drop in the Park” concert • Replica of Pearl Jam three-song demo cassette with Eddie Vedder’s original vocal dubs • Recreation of Eddie Vedder composition notebook • Never before seen memorabilia • Bonus tracks and more.
The reissue of Ten serves as the launch of a planned two-year catalogue re-release campaign leading up to the band’s 20th anniversary in 2011. Each Ten package will include two versions of the album: the remastered version of the original album PLUS an accompanying remixed version done by the band’s long-time producer, Brendan O’Brien (mentioned above).
Very cool.
