  • please, please, please!

we've definitely lost a lot of little niceities in the transition, and that's a-ok, but this IS a biggie! sooooo many of us post from work, read from work, etc....and sure, it's our choice and all, but damn.....just ONE other skin choice, preferable excel-like ;)...would be a god-send! and sure, more could visit and participate regularly!

    grazie mille!

I am myself like you somehow

  • *bump!*

and i KNOW chiqui and i are not the only members who wish for different skin choices...most especially one that is a LOT more incognito for work purposes......i just don't know why no one else is speaking up here? perhaps chica, many don't get the 'stealthy skin' idea....? :P

the top and bottom banners are just insanely obvious. the board design/colors not much better in that sense either.....but still, definitely would be a vast improvement w/o the banners in any case. i hope the board is still under construction and that skin choices will soon follow. *fingers crossed*

  • if there were a skin choice that was actually laid out in excel....OMG...i would look like SUCH an amazing employee!

and for the record, i AM an amazing employee ;)....it's just when i have down time, i have down time...nothing much else to do. this is 'known' and accepted...but none the less...it's far better to always *appear* like one is working, or thinking of work, or at least playing around with work programs, etc. yes.....an 'excel' stealthy skin would be PERFECT! 8-) but hey, i will settle for just about anything less obvious!

A workaround it to use FireFox with the adblock plugin. You can block the image... which blocks the background image too. You end up with a black screen, and posts with grey and green letters. It's a little less obvious and not visually appealing. Might help some of you until there is an official skin.

Fine for the banners, but for the background the problem is that the writing being dark, when you do that it becomes almost impossible to read.

Plus black is not work-friendly either.

I just found a way of sorts (though not perfect as some stuff end up missing)

    For Firefox:
Options, Content, Colours, untick the 'Allow Website to set colours'.
For IE (doesn't work so well, the icons are gone)
Options, General, Accessibility, tick 'Ignore colours specified on web pages'

Gives you have a white background ..but the icons are missing.

hmmmmmmm...that is pretty good, except yea.....there are no buttons to quote, etc. :? it does get rid of the top banner, tho still blue up there....but the bottom banner, still present. and honestly, the bright white background isn't all that great...since the words 'pop out' so clearly. thus why the message pit was so much better. while sure, not an excel spreedsheet....it was innocuous enough to be a helluva lot more discreet. but this ain't too bad really....however, i think i'll end up back with the regular b/c yea..i like to quote people and such. :D

i tried it with both firefox and IE...and for both, the quote, edit and ! buttons went missing....and yea....still too 'obvious'......i just want other skin choices....

Understood, but better than nothing. Not visually appealing as stated.

I noticed they have a new "Garland" theme but it only seems to work on the home page. It IS "stealthier".

Hope it eventually gets transferred to the forums too.

It's a little bright. I think it's awesome that they are coming up with new themes for us, but I would prefer one that's just a little softer.

yessssss. someone posted about it in the 'holy crap!' thread over on the porch. i immediately made the switch, but sadly right now...it only *works* on the home page. quite honestly, for the home page i am more than happy to leave it as originally designed, it's here IN THE FORUMS that i need an innocuous skin, so hope it transfers over quickly!

travelar, i think it is 'bright' in comparision to here right now, but really, is much like most other boards, and/or work programs.

aarrgh! they've removed the option to switch and now I'm stuck with the blue skin on the main site (that has many problems)
  • PRETTY PLEEEEEEAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need to look professional in my posting... 8-)

Oh here, if you could make it look like a UK government transport website I'd be A-Ok!

    bleh!

i was so psyched when the 'garland' scheme popped up, but at this point...it's utterly useless! it makes the main page quite ugly, and i don't even really need the main page to look innocuous in any case. what i need to look innocuous is THIS PLACE....the forums! i seriously hope this gets remedied soon. it seems a lot of features, the few we had, have disappeared in the interim...so i truly hope they are working out the kinks and all will be well, with a stealthy skin HERE.....soon. :D

we've definitely lost a lot of little niceities in the transition, and that's a-ok, but this IS a biggie! sooooo many of us post from work, read from work, etc....and sure, it's our choice and all, but damn.....just ONE other skin choice, preferable excel-like ;)...would be a god-send! and sure, more could visit and participate regularly!

    grazie mille!

    lol, excel-like.

the old pit looked like one of my work applications. the blue/grey skin. worked like a charm! :)

    well a girl can dream.......;)
seriously, theo old pit was just fine. innocuous enough. looks like the 'garland' theme would've been quite similar, tho the big 'pearl jam' and the funny round face logo....errrrr not so much. :P that said, i wish it would make it's way over HERE! i soooo dislike how the homepage looks nowadays, especially opening to the blogs......bleh! hahaha. seems a lot has gone missing, some other features that just never made it over here period - i still misss the mouse-over preview  - i just hope things get resolved/changed soon.

Just don't make the mistake of having the website open, but then minimizing becuase it still says gives the heading of the site in the taskbar of the browser you are using.
  • :!: seriously, this needs to be addressed!

i LOVE the new board skin, it's beautiful and BRIGHT. but hello? 'beautiful and bright' is not exactly desired in a work environment. perhaps IN your work, but not glaring outta your computer screen. ;)

    we need CHOICES.....please!
sooooo many niceities from the old board set-up have fallen by the wayside, but honestly....this one is an important one! i think the majority of people posting here daily, are AT work. now, what does that say about our productivity and/or work environments, well....that's another topic entirely. thing of it is though, we still must do damn fine jobs to still be employed....and yea....we need to be employed so we can afford our 10c memberships...shows....pj merch....etc, etc....it's all a vicious cycle. oh and sure, those pesky things such as food, clothing mortgage/rent.....all that necessary yet unsexy stuff. so yes, we cube-dwellers need something low-key and innocuous.....there can be much beauty in low-key too ya know.... :geek:

    thank you!
