I just heard that too! Went out over my lunch break, I only heard LROM, Mike's quick station ID and Wishlist, but he did say RUMOR of a Spectrum show before the ol' girl goes down, so at least there's legit talk, not just our hopes!

The demolition was gonna be September, but recently I read it might be pushed back several months.

I think with the pushed back date its closer to the end of the year, which could turn into a Fall date for the boys

I was listening to the same thing and there was NO mention of a rumored Spectrum show. They talked about the re-release of TEN, a new album in the works and a possible tour after that album. Some dates were being thrown around but none for Philly (that they knew of) and a Spectrum show was a HOPE and WISH since argueably one of the best shows ever at the Spectrum was PJ.

I've been hoping for this for quite some time, and it sounds like what they'd want to do if it was an option.
But no, it was not stated as "rumors have it". Pierre was being hopeful. Period.
(BTW, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE spell RUMOR correctly. Sheesh. I don't get it anymore. Browsers have built in spell check, yet I see constant misspelling on every website I visit. What the hell?)

Thanks. So any date in the fall would probably work.

Actually the original plan was to have final performances at the Spectrum in Sept and demolition soon after. Now it is being explored to have the demo on NYE, but no plans to have performances past Sept... although I don't think the building would just be left sitting there for a few months. Figure with a NYE demo, last shows could be early to late Nov. at the latest.

I wonder if I may have helped caused the rumor ... lol

I emailed Matt Cord yesterday because I was heading to the 76ers game and wanted to meet up with him. I sent him this:

    http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/4756/pjinfozd7.jpg

which has been on the board since week and mentioned that in Rolling Stone, PJ said they are looking for a fall release of the enw album. I also said that I hoped if it was a fall release that maybe they could hit the Spectrum before it closes if the tour starts in August or September.

Nah... Matt wasn't involved with the PJ block today.... Pierre and Nick were talking after Last Kiss and before playing a 10 second clip of the upcoming version of Brother.

I really hope this is true but I am VERY doubtful. You don't just load a stadium with dynamite and hit the switch. Many weeks of pre-demolition work need to take place. I think the summer is the only window for a PJ Spectrum show and that doesn't seem to fit the other tour rumors at all. I really hope I'm wrong though. I'll be saying goodbye to the Spectrum with The Dead, Springsteen, and Kings of Leon. Pearl Jam would make it even more perfect.

is it just me, or are rumors the WORST thing ever? i just hate when hopes and dreams are thrown around and eventually turn into dates and venues. maybe it's just me. i'd love for them to play the spectrum, especially after the 2003 show rocked. but i just refuse to read these threads and get my hopes up. i'd rather they didn't exist at all, let the dates and venues appear when the tour is announced.

EXACTLY- but I still read them

Just remember- last year around this time, two or three DJs in separate cities "reported" that PJ would tour with AIC for a full summer tour which of course never happened

True, but the Philly radio DJs have also been right about Pearl Jam rumors the past few tours. There's also someone here with a connection at the Camden venue who tipped us off correctly pretty early last year.
