how long do you give him? honestly, i cannot stand this guy. whenever i watched snl when he was on, i was always amazed on how terrible he was. to me he doesn't seem naturally funny and that he is trying REAL hard to make people laugh. i wonder what made nbc choose him

i miss old conan... masturbating bear, cameltoe sally... man that stuff was classic. he is probably going to have to clean up even more now that he is on earlier=(

    Jimmy Fallon sucks so bad. The guy is the absolutely worst!


    Anyone still think it was a bit of a punk-ass move by Leno to give up the Tonight Show, then at the last minute decide "well, maybe that was a bad idea" then talk NBC into giving him another talk show basically right before his old one?

    Anyways, I hope Conan keeps up the type of comedy, the type of show he's been doing and doesn't dumb it down or not be as edgy because it's a) a different show and b) it's on earlier.

    remember chevy chase and his attempt at a talk show??? i think it lasted 3 weeks....

    jimmy fallon will be lucky if he lasts that long....

    leno sucks. however i think nbc talked him into the 10pm thing, not the other way around.

    Conan really got hosed on this one. Leno is going to steal all the big guests from him. I wish Leno would just go away. I still dont get how he kills Letterman in the ratings consistently. Letterman is so much funnier and entertaining.

    I thought that they wanted Leno to be on at 10pm so that he didn't sign on with ABC or another network to go against the Tonight Show. Buying him off basically.

    I wish Conan would stay in NYC though. Carson was from an era where Hollywood was romanticized but I think that NYC has an authenticity to it that is unbeatable. ...but maybe that's just because that was my hometown. :)

    That is pretty much it. Leno realized he still wanted to work, NBC realized almost all of their prime-time schedule is crap. Together they realized if they put him on at 10pm they can save a ton of money (since his show would be way cheaper than a 10pm drama), and probably not get that much worse ratings. The other reason they gave him 10pm was there were few other options. If NBC had decided to change their mind about Conan and the tonite show, they would have to buy out his contract and I believe he wrote that the penalty for that was millions of dollars (plus the fact that he would be released I think). Conan was also the one who Awesomly forced NBC to give him the tonite show in 2009 as part of his last contract negotiation.

    As far as Fallon goes he is probably going to tank. I mean anyone watching NBC is going to be tired of talk shows after an hour of Leno and and hour of Conan each night. Plus there is only a limited pool of decent guests who are willing to do the talk show circuit (or have something to promote) each night, so between Leno, Letterman, Conan, Stewart, Colbert, Kimmel and Ferguson who the hell is going to want to appear on Jimmy Fallon's show?

    My theory has always been Leno wins the ratings because he does a lot more broad, lowest common denominator jokes. I mean Letterman is a lot smarter and wittier, but a big chunk of the audience who are watching tv between 1130 and 1230 are already half asleep don't want witty because then they have to think they just want simple jokes about Viagra, how Clinton likes sex, or funny words that show up in the newspaper.

    I also wish Conan would stay in NYC. He's an east coast guy from Boston after all. He doesn't belong in lala land. I'm kicking myself for never having gone to see his show while he's still in driving distance.

    If Jimmy Fallon has good writers, he might have a chance. But why would good writers want to work for Jimmy Fallon?

    I'm glad Conan is coming to LA cause I'll finally get to see him! But no, I can't imagine him really liking it here if he's an East Coast guy at heart.
