Shadow Reunion: Hendrix Set

I just want to be the first to say that the Shadow Reunion: Hendrix Set was un-fucking-believable tonight at the FTM (Flight to Mars) show! Not only did Mike throw down some incredible Jimi licks, but the man sang lead on all the songs! It was badass and I was soooo glad I passed on seeing Devotchka with the wife at the other Showbox. The set included but was not limited to Voodoo Chile, All Along the Watchtower, and Star-Spangled Banner. They closed by bringing Duff McKagan out and played two sweet covers of the Ramones "Chinese Rock" and Iggy & The Stooges "I Wanna Be Your Dog" with McKagan on vocals. Worth the price of admission alone...

Worth every penny on the price of the package and beyond, one of the best shows I've seen EVER. The Hendrix set was Explosive, and something should be said about Rick and Chris Friel - they rocked Badass!! (Tim DiJulio, later on, kicked ass!). What a night...

Actually Kim Virant sang lead on Little Wing but yeah it was a badass set for sure... EPIC even!!
And Mike is an excellent frontman, just really outstanding :)

    Why doesn't Mike sing more??!!!??

He is an AWESOME front man. Now, I would really love to see him write and sing his own PJ songs.

The Hendrix/Shadow Reunion set was the highlight of the night for me. McCready rocked, the Friel brothers rocked, Kim Virant was beautiful on Little Wing.
Then seeing Duff was so fucking rad!!!

    It ROCKED. \m/

Thanks for correcting me... No disrespect to Kim Virant... I was just so tickled to see Mike handling the vocal duties! I had a big ole' shit-eating grin the whole set!

Much love to the Friel Bros too! They were a TIGHT 3 piece! And of course recognize Mr. DiJulio for shredding during Flight to Mars -- that guy is good and fun to watch as well. Hell, they ALL were awesome! Such a fun night...

    I told you...
The show was great! It seemed more packed than last year. That's good.
Did anyone else get a pearl jam pick with the avocado on the back from Kristen Ward. What are they from?

He was great, raw excited voice, belting out Watchtower and all... I understood Ed was actually supposed to show up for that... You know what? Glad he didn't, it was a HUGE success anyhow, raised a lot of money and everyone was having so much fun! On stage and off it.

Where's my pick, dude? When I was at the front and Mike was handing out picks, I got crushed a couple of times, but no pick :( Some people got many many picks, though - lucky them!!

The Hendrix thing was awesome! When they did "Voodoo Chile", I remembered that I meant to tell Mike that I saw Stevie Ray Vaughn do that song in 1983...very amazing! At any rate, the whole night on Saturday was really really great! Music, booze, swag, and reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones!

Thanks, Mike! And the whole Wishlist crew!

LOVED hearing Mike sing... I think we all def need to rip out the Let Mike Sing chant!

He told Angi a cool story about Dirty Frank too.. he wondered why we all loved it so much. He said Dirty Frank was an ex-cop or ex-militia.. couldn't remember.. that he was a freaky dude and was wasted all the time. Something about him falling down the stairs of the bus and other stuff.. Kim, I think you were nearby when he was telling it?

I got one, and it's the first time I've seen one too.. It's orange, with an avocado on one side, and "PEARL JAM" with a small recycle logo on the other side. Anyone know where it's from?

The "PEARL JAM" is in the same font as "sold to at birth" pic here: http://www.twofeetthick.com/tft/readArticle.action?id=247. Seems like it's a Stone pic?

No...I didn't hear that...I pretty much got out of everyone's way once I spoke with him...Didn't want to hog all his time (cuz I could have talked his ear off) and crowd anyone's space with him...still, he was so nice about the whole Victoria thing! I look a little starstruck in that picture you took!

Uhmmm....yeah...it was great to hear him sing, though! He's so neat!
