Long time....

Im no expert, but if the band is recording in LA as I write this as confirmed in the Rolling Stone article and others, doesn't it seem like a really long time before the album will be out. I mean its' February, do they really need another 6-7 months to actually release the finished product. It just seems like late summer-Early fall for a release date seems a bit far out. Discuss..... :?:

It all depends on how they're getting the music out there. They COULD release it quickly if they wanted. If they offer it staggered, first online as a download, then physical copies, then it can be immediate for the online. If they are only selling physical copies produced, then they can sell online and in stores. They can also pre-sell before physical copies are completed. So many options, especially when THEY are the ones releasing it.

...but maybe they're giving themselves 6 months to record, and they may only need 2 months. It's better to give a long deadline, and come in before it, than the other way around!

Oh Im with you. Im expecting a variety of options, but again, if they are actually recording tracks now, it still seems like a long time before we will actually get to hear anything- unless they have something up their sleeves....

i think they just don't want to feel pressured on time... the fact that they're giving ANY time frame makes me think they are going to record relatively fast, and probably be done within their timing. I'd bet they're booking their summer tour now, in anticipation of being done in time or early.

Thats what I am talking about. O'Brien is notorious for taking a long time in production, but 6 months seems long even for him. I too am still holding out hope for a proper summer tour....which kicks off here in missoula of course ;)

    caution: wishful thinking ahead!!

maybe it's taking so long b/c they are working with o'brien to record 2 albums. one for this year, and one for next year.

like i said, wishful thinking! ;)
