and one of my favorites from a KEXP show:

Portland, Oregon - 20090207
Standing in a puddle of crushed beer cans after the show the guy next to me asked if I was the one who punched him in the jaw. I smiled and said no . . . . what an amazing show!!!
Slabtown (Portland, Oregon) provided the optimal conditions for a classic Mudhoney performance. I have not attended a rock show that was this authentic in a long time. This show had everything that is synonymous with northwest rock n roll at its finest. General crappy playing conditions, a hammered and psychotic crowd, flying bodies and beer cans, and crowd surges that pushed sections of the audience onto the stage and into floor monitors and mic stands (the stage is 2 inches of the ground).

It sounds like you would prefer almost anyone to Mudhoney :-) Ed certainly seems to appreciate the genius of their music. I understand they are not for everyone, but they are a unique and special group of individuals.
My next choice would be Sonic Youth!
