I've experienced no sound difference in the two. Granted, the feel of 180/200 gram recordings are nice, but one of the best sounding records I have is a flimsy as paper original release of Black Sabbath's Master of Reality. Heavier weight is nice, but it's not a necessity.
Speaking of vinyl, I need to get myself a record player to play the Super Deluxe! :?

It's mostly because alot of what is used is just recycled and poor quality, definitley affecting the quality, the 180's tend to be virgin vinyl and in my view the 180's do make a difference to the quality, my Appetite 180 plays so much better than the original geffen pressing owned by my Wife.
This day and age alot of record companies have jumped on the bandwagon of offering 180 pressings as a selling point but the pressings in the case of the 93 180 gram reissue of Darkside of the Moon are regarded the best versions ever on vinyl including the half speed masters and the jap pressings.
