1st Dallas show in March!!

hey, hey...

well, i just booked my first show in Dallas. since moving to Waco from Houston about 7 months ago, i've spent most of my time writing & recording. finally, that itch to play live was getting too scratchy to ignore...so i'll be playing a 2 hour acoustic set @ Dunn Bros in Addison on 3/28 @ 8pm. i know that there are quite a few Dallas folks on the board, so i figured that i'd let you all know! so if you, your neighbor or that guy standing behind you @ the grocery checkout line w/ that awful b.o. are in the area, come on by! you can hear a few of the songs here: myspace.com/mattcluthe

i can't wait to play these new songs live....!!

    i'm no where near texas...just wanted to give your thread a bump! being married to a musician i know full well the excitement of a gig...so good luck...have a blast! hope lots of people show up and support....and enjoy your music! 8-)

    Cool. Tons of venues here. The alternative/independent newspaper here should help with matching venues with your brand of music. Good luck.

    bumpity bump!

    and here's a little more info on this show....

    we moved from Houston after we got married last July. i've been writing non-stop since then, it seems. my last show was a show that my wife & i (she plays piano & has an amazing voice) did 2 days before our wedding for friends & family. she'll be joining me for a few songs this time around as well!

    anyway, the vast majority of the songs on my for this 2 hour set are new. they've never been played live. i am going to play a couple of old favorites & 3 covers. i'm not sure what the 3rd cover will be just yet... but the first two will be "dondante" by my morning jacket & "walls" by tom petty.

    i just learned that my sister & her husband will be driving down from Kansas City for this! so, i'm really excited for that as well.

    ok. that's enough. sorry to keep bumping this, but i'm just really excited!! 8-)

    the setlist is pretty much done. i'd like to throw in another cover somewhere. the 2 that i'm already playing are "walls" by Tom Petty & "dondante" by My Morning Jacket. any ideas? thanks!

    the show went really, really well. i had a blast & it was so much fun to play all of those new songs. my wife joined me onstage for an original & a cover (My Morning Jacket's "Dondante"). the place wasn't packed or anything, but those that were there seemed to enjoy it. they asked me back for a few shows from May-Aug, so that's cool!

    my voice/throat is in rough shape, but it was well worth it! thanks to everyone for their support & encouragement! 8-)

    Cool. Sorry I couldn't make it man. My son had a baseball game Saturday night. And we froze our ass off. Glad to hear it went well!!
