i wrote this for/about a friend of mine we lost last year to suicide....

untitled

there's something out there in the growing distance
you can feel it but you cannot see the light
and moreover there's a dismal subtext
everyone declaring that they thought you might

somewhere out there in the ever after
is a feeling you were chasing all your life
all the pieces that were never fitting
and the judgements handed down that just weren't right

where have you gone
where have you gone?
i'm holding on
holding on
i'm coming back for you

we'll always question if we could've saved you
and all the signs that we just didn't want to see
when all your critics once again forsake you
just forget them... honey, you are finally free

somewhere out there in the growing distance
there's a reason and a purpose all your own
i know you're out there somewhere ever waiting
i know you're out there trying to find your way back home

where have you gone
where have you gone?
i'm holding on
holding on
i'm coming back for you

    very powerful, I love it!

I am not sure what this line was meant to say, but my interpretation is the regret that someone may have after they commit suicide and how they could return to life no matter how bad it was.

I am not suicidal and could never bring myself to do it, but I have been in such a slump this past year and a half that think about what would happen if I did. (how family/friends would react)

I am sorry that this happened to someone you know, death of a friend is not an easy thing to handle.

Rather than being birthed like a normal child, Chuck Norris instead
decided to punch his way out of his mother's womb. Shortly thereafter
    he grew a beard.

thanks for the kind words... it doesn't read all THAT great as a poem, it is actually a rocker i wrote with my band... (i hope to post the audio on myspace when i can... www.myspace.com/farewellplutoband)

as far as that line, i was referring to just trying to find your way to a place of peace... if she wasn't able to find it in life, i hope the afterlife provides it for her.

and i hope that, in thinking about the effect it would have on the people in your life, you come to the conclusion that there is another way out, my friend.... all the people who would be devastated by it... there's always hope! the tough times will pass and you'll be that much stronger for pushing through. stay with us! i know there is a lot of love for you.
