    Depends what it's for.

I got a 250gb one to house itunes and my music but that's all it's for so it doesn't really need to be bigger than that. It's a dinky 'lil thing with blue lights

I think my boyfriend paid about £50 for it. If you need bigger expect to pay £60+ for 500gb and £80+ for 1tb. Shop around and read reviews! That's what they're there for! I don't but anything electrical/IT unless i've read several real reviews first.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, you wouldn't believe I work in IT, would you? but there you go  that's my 2 cents anyways
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

agreed on backing up your media.

rule of thumb from any recording engineer. Digital media doesn't exist unless it exists in three independent places.

i've got a Western Digital 500gb my passport.
I would recommended it, its small and its powered by USB so no need for external power source.

Western Digital's are really the shiznit when it comes to these kinda things. When purchasing, ensure that the drive has an auto-off feature. This means that the drive will power down with your pc thus reducing wear and tear, making the drive last longer.

I have a 250gb and 500gb all full, time to purchase 1tb this week :D Think it'll set me back about €120.

Anyone have any luck with repairs for these things. I have a 300 gb one that I believe (I wasn't in the room at the time) that my cat knocked onto the floor and now it is not recognized by my computer at all. There is a lot of stuff on there, none of which I actually paid for, but it'd still be nice to get at.

    Any suggestions?
