Ticketmaster might be merging... with Live Nation!

What are the consequences of such an action?
It has always been mind boggling to me, how few bands there are that publicly trash ticketmaster. Even when it was the "cool" thing to do, and Pearl Jam, one of the biggest bands in the world at that time were taking on Ticketmaster, only REM, Uncle Neil, and Aerosmith, garth Brooks I think also stood up and said "ticketmaster has to be stopped".
The only other band I can think of who has done anything like that recently, was String Cheese Incident. But they are of course disbanded.
Indeed the reason why the PJ anti ticketmaster experiment didnt work, was because, Ticketmaster basically has control of EVERY SINGLE major venue, so it was logistically impossible for a band of PJ's stature at that time, the band of the moment, to find places to play.
However, dont you think that if the music industry lined up, a bunch of industry people, bands, and fans and formed some sort of coalition, that ticketmaster could be brought to justice?

Brought to justice for what exactly? Charging high service charges that fans knowingly pay for the ease of buying tickets online?

And some with enough clout actually participate in the raping by getting a cut of the fees.

They charge exorbitant fees no matter how you get the tickets. It turns into anal assault when you want to print them yourself but you're right, that is your choice. Fees end up being about half the actual ticket price in many cases.
In most places you can still buy tickets at the venue box office with no service charges. I know the big NYC venues you can't buy anymore on the first day and some Live Nation buildings are charging fees at the venues, but that isn't Ticketmaster's fault.

IF they do merge,....I look at at is two different sides of the industry becoming 1 big powerhouse rather than 2 of the same companies becoming 1. Agree??
Like Michael Jordan teaming up with Tiger Woods as opposed to Michael Jordan teaming up with Larry Bird.....if that makes sense.
