Not sure how many of you have heard of him, but this guy's a real gem. Far as I'm concerned, there's a not-too-distant relation between William Elliott Whitmore's growly folk/blues and Vedder's Into the Wild trip. His new album is precisely what I've been waiting for - relatable themes addressed with true soul, in a gravelly voice that you'd swear belongs to an old black man.

I highly recommend the record - it's called Animals in the Dark. I posted a couple tracks with the review I wrote if you want to check it out.

I saw him a few weeks ago opening for City & Colour. He was really good and the crowd was definitely into his set. Gotta pick up that album.

    nice, any idea what songs?
  • William Elliott Whitmore did "Dynamite Mine". Murder By Death did "One Man's Shame". although on my digital download of the songs it says Murder By Death did "Samba". i'm not familiar with Whitmore's catalogue at all so i'm not really sure.

    Bumping this.

I saw him open up for Cornell last month and it's the first time in a couple of years that I was blown away by an artist that I never heard of before. Unbelievable song writer and an amazing voice. Went home and bought all of his records.
