I finally LOVE this album! I know it's been out for awhile now but I hated when it first came out and got me off the QOTSA bandwagon but recently been listening to it and goddamn it kicks ass!

Quite a sexy album too, lots of love songs on it. 8-)
Blood is Love and Everybody Knows That You're Insane are easily top 10 QOTSA songs for me.

As much as i love Rated R, LTP is creeping up as my favorite CD by them. And the more I think about it, Songs For The Deaf might be their worst record, which is still a GREAT album.

Glad you finally like it. QOTSA are a lot like PJ to me in that it always takes me a little time to appreciate their albums. I never love them at first but they grow on me and I feel like someone turned on a spotlight in my head.
  • I've been saying Songs for the Deaf is their worst album forever it feels like. lullabies has been my favourite since it came out. truly a dark and wonderful record. have you seen the dvd that came with the ltd edition of the album? its great. its an in depth look at the sessions for the lullabies. awesome.

does it get any groovier than Burn the Witch? that song is wicked.

I've been a huge fan since the very begining. My first time seeing them was in 1998 a dive bar in London Ontario. They completly melted my face and they instantly became my favorite band.

Their self titled 1st album will be burried with me...It's that good.

Rated R and SFTD still hold up as 2 of the best records released this decade.

The last 2 albums have been massive disapointments for me. I'd be foolish to say that the reason is entirley due the absence of Nick Oliveri because afterall Josh has always written about 95% of the music for Queens...but there is definately something missing w/o Nick.

QOTSA's mediocre out put over the last couple of albums is fustrating because it's not only due to a lack of interesting songs and material but also a lack of danger and feeling that they had when Nick was in the band and even before..

Don't get me wrong...I'm still a huge fan, and still think they're one of the greatest rock bands in the world...I'm just hoping that Josh gets this shit back on track before Queens become a sad foot note.

And For the Record...as you can probably tell...LTP is not one of my favorite QOTSA records... but it's 100 times better than the vile lame garbage pale leakage that was Era Vulgaris.

  • Lullabies To Paralyze is pretty solid.

The first 3 are good too.

Era Vulgaris, except for 2-3 songs, completely sucks. Completely.

I think you're absolutely right! I've come to love the Queens during the Rated R phase & have seen them 13 times since then. I have to say that I've come to love the last 2 records over time and there is definetly something missing nowadays. If you've witnessed the times when they even had Mark Lanegan (In the Fade, Song for the Dead & Hangin' Tree are sorely missed!) on board it's kind of hard not to miss that kind of versatility vocal wise! I saw them @ Rock Werchter 2002 when they even had D. Grohl on the drumkit, talk about an All-Star Line-Up!!Tension Head, Millionaire & Ode to Clarissa are just a couple songs I miss when seeing Q.O.T.S.A. without Nick but that wasn't the best he had to offer in my opinion: he was the best backing vocalist I've ever seen in any band and I'm pretty sure that's about the only thing that Josh wouldn't deny ... even nowadays!

I love Lullabies but if I had to rate their records I guess it would finish at the 5th spot!
