Ben Folds (Five)

havent listened to them really though.
All I know is Brick is a perfect song.
What should I check out? As I have all the albums, what's the best one?
I hear Reinhold Meisser is the No Code of the Ben Folds catalogue.

The self titled album (Ben Folds Five) is the best album the band put out, in my opinion. But all the stuff is good. As for his solo stuff, Ben Folds Live is a great live album when listened all the way through. The compilation LP of his three EPs, Supersunnyspeedgraphic is also good. All of his stuff is great as far as I'm concerned. If you want a laugh, though, download his Dr. Dre cover of Bitches Ain't Shit."The dude abides. I don't know about you, but I take comfort in that. It's good knowin' he's out there. The Dude. Takin' her easy for all us sinners."0

Songs for Silverman is being reissued, release date of December 9th.
SRCVinyl has it up (not sure where else). I got Rockin' the Suburbs from SRC and it's a really great sounding record. I'm happy to see his work getting decent treatment as it gets reissued. I'm a big fan - there is just something about Ben Folds' music that pleases me very much. I really love his stuff.

I haven't listened in some time, but do love Ben Folds. The DVD Live in Perth with WASO or some such title (not home, going by memory) is really wonderful.2014: Cincinnati
2016: Lexington and Wrigley 10 -
I've only heard a small sampling of their music. My suggestion would be to line them up in order and start listening from front to back. When you reach the end you should be able to form your own opinion as to which the best one is.

I haven't spent too much time listening to Ben Folds Five. I have mostly focused on his solo stuff, because from the beginning I enjoyed it so much (despite reviews - yikes! I read a few old ones yesterday, like from Pitchfork, etc, and their reviews are generally pretty bad ... well, fuck them, lol!), I guess I haven't had much room for the band in my playlist yet. I should definitely give "the Five" a better listen than I have so far.AceCool said:I've only heard a small sampling of their music. I am seeing Ben Folds on Saturday... It's a paper airplane tour... that means we literally make song requests by paper airplane at the show.
I'm really excited! The one thing I worry about is the turn out. I have a bad feeling that the ticket sales have been weak for this one in Vancouver. I hope I'm wrong.

I've been listening to XTC / Andy Partridge lately.........you can definitely hear how they influenced Ben's sound.0

I would see Ben Folds in concert again in a heart beat. It was great!
