I had no horse in this race ... so I don't care ... but ... I just don't like seeing a game where the refs were overly involved at some points, but, then, put the whistles/review away for the afore mentioned Warner "fumble" ... or, why not call Santonio Holmes for using the ball as a prop after his touchdown? They've been claling that lame ass penalty all year for the weakest crap ... then Holmes uses the ball as a ketchup bottle and gives it a few shakes, no penalty. Pitt kicking off from the 15 might have made a big difference at the end.

I just assume get rid of that penalty all together, perhaps next year, they do ... but, the lack of consistancy is a little frustrating.

Cards fans can't blame the lost game on the refs however ... that intercpetion @ the end of the half was a 10 - 14 point swing ... why they didn't try the Fitzgerald jump ball then, I have NO idea.

The craziest stat I just saw : The Steelers are 142-1-1 all time when leading by at least 11 points.

    That's nuts. I'm just glad it's not 141-2-1

great game. Being a life long Steelers fan, It was a good night... :D

As for the last play: http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/28971640/

According to NFL VP of Officiating Mike Pereira, the replay official upstairs did see the play clearly.

“We confirmed it was a fumble,” said Pereira. “The replay assistant in the replay booth saw it was clearly a fumble. The ball got knocked loose and was rolling in his hand before it started forward. He has to have total control.”

Complete agreement. I didn't care who won, just wanted a great game. And we got a great game. But the officiating was ridiculous. That roughing the passer call on AZ was bullshit. So was the non-call on Homes. If TO had tried that it would have been 15 yards. And if you want to be strict about it, shouldn't Harrison have been ejected after repeatedly punching that Cardinal in the head and then knocking him down when the play was over? Way too many holding calls. And to not even review that final play. Yes, it may have held up and the not made a difference, but you at least have to look!

Seems to me that this has been the worst year as far as officials go. They are so inconsistent. They affect the outcome of games when they shouldn't.

Great game though. Congrats to the Steelers. Class organization all the way who certainly deserved it. I kind of feel bad for Warner though.

The scary thing is I know off the top of my head the one loss and the one tie. They blew a 13 point lead to the Bungles in '01 in the next to last game of the season and lost in OT and the next year tied the Falcons after Vick overcame a 17 point lead in the 4th.

So, what about all the talk of this being the best SB ever? I think last year would have an argument. As would Rams/Titans.

Also I think it is funny that everyone talked about the Steeler defense. Sure, they got a defensive score. But otherwise the Cardinals shredded that defense. It came down to the mediocre Steeler offense beating the mediocre Cardianl defense.

Of course the Cowboys where sitting at home watching.

And now the Steelers are America's Team!

Loosers always snivel about the calls, but winners just win not matter how the officiating goes.

Clearly a fumble on the last play and they don't have to annouce they are looking it over. In this instance they had plenty of time before the kneel down to make sure they got it right.

And if some douche from England doesn't want to see 99 threads on the game then why are they here reading this one and even making a post. So many of you are post whores you can't even make an intelligent comment 10% of the time.

The Cards had one big quarter and that was after the Steelers decided to be more aggressive in the fourth. Going into the 4th Fitzgerald had one catch for 12 yards and the Cards had 179 yards of offense.

All true but Warner still ended up with 377 yards passing and 3 TDs and 1 INT. If you had told everyone that would be his line, I bet most would have taken the Cards to win.

I don't watch the Steelers a lot but it seems like they always win the game on the last drive or two. Do they ever win in a blowout? Except against the Brown and Bengals?

No it doesn't. And I actually meant that as a compliment. They have a knack for sticking around and staying in the game and then winning it in the 4th quarter.

Won't be able to tell until some time passes ... but, the Cards overcame a 13 point lead with 11 minutes left, including getting a safety to get the ball back, only to see it disappear with 35 seconds left. If it wasn't for the refs being so heavily involved, I would call that pretty damn close.

Superbowl XIII, Steelers 35, Cowboys 31 ... XXIII, SF over Cincy ... both get consideration often...

I'm partial to the Pats victories .... Pats over the Rams was soooo sweet, its MY favorite, but I understand it's not the best ever in a lot of people's minds. The game against the Panthers was exciting for a lot of people, I think that's at least in the discussion for best ever ... top 3 or so.

It's like what Coach Tomlin said, we don't win with style points and flash. We play 60 minutes of mentally tough football and that's how we win games.

I'm glad the Steelers won because now I won't have to hear my wife complain about folding the Super Bowl champion shirts for nothing. She works at a Macy's store near Pittsburgh and spent most of her day at work Friday folding them. The store had the shirts 2 days before the game was even played, but didn't start selling them until Sunday night when they re-opened after the game was over so people could get the championship shirts right away.
