Skipping over threads that have too many posts

Sometimes I see a topic that is interesting but there are already like 10 pages and I know I would need to read all the posts to see the entirety of the discussion.
Like with the Lost Season 5 thread- that topic is so specific that I would need to read every post to see how they got to where they were in the discussion.
Sometimes if its just a thread where people list things you can skim through and get the idea of the consensus but when its a real convo i just...well im too lazy.
Anyone else feel this way?

  • :) Yup! I posted in the "Lost" thread yesterday anyway. I was too lazy to read thru the 11 pages plus of discussion, skimmed it only. I saw your thread and decided to read your post intstead, cuz I know I'll have to go back and find my last post to comment on anything again. Sometimes it's a little much, then again the threads that eventually get banned are funny when they run on for pages. I am thinking more of the last board message pit,one in particular about "body parts" or "fucntions" .cheers

Yep! It takes a lot of time to read thru many threads that may interest you, especially if you haven't been following them and only look every few days. And I don't like to waste space by just rehashing what has already been said. I haven't found a solution, except to not post reply.

Sometimes I just see a post on the first or second page that I respond to and it ends up on page 12.

  • Skimming over all the posts in a long thread?

Wow, I would NEVER do something like that. :P

Oh I just start reading on the latest page, and work my way back a bit, seeing if I want to participate or not. Occasionally a particularly juicy thread will warrant reading all the pages, within reason (10-15 or less)

  • Along the same lines, I have caught myself reading threads and losing track of time, similar to getting on a string of youtube videos and realizing that three hours just passed.

I like to jump in on like page 12 on a thread on A Moving Train, and not read anything aside from the OP. ...then comment. Drives 'em nuts over there! :D
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

yea same here. If I see a thread thats already a bunch of pages, I usually don't even bother replying. Its like "oh they probably already said what i'm going to say after 8 pages."

that would be ironic if this thread gets to be like a million pages.

sometimes i dont even post what i want to due to the possibility that some one wrote it and then id get flamed ie: "WHY DIDNT YOU SEARCH FIRST BEFORE YOU POSTED???"
