different as in just the sound? there shouldn't be any new/different parts if its just a remaster...that would be kind of annoying actually.

Yeah definitely different solo, sounds a bit like the one that was on Ten but chopped together differently. It might be like the Even Flow off RVM where they took the music video recording and used that.

Edit: Nope completely different than video solo and a lot longer solo.

It might be they took the original rough mix and remastered that? I dunno

i wonder if it sounds more like the solo from some of the alive demos? i was listening to some on tape the other night and there are obvious differences.
    i can't wait for the re-release!

oooh ok...I retract my "annoyed" statement if that's the case...I just don't think it would be very cool if they rerecorded new parts for the remaster. If the remaster is this different, I wonder what the remix is gonna be like

Yea, the solo is deffinantly from different takes because it took him a while to finally nail it right?

it just sounds like they just toggled with the sound settings...it sounds fuller and there's more echo on ed's vocals...everything else is perfectly normal just fuller and more echo...i'm listening to it for the first time now as i type this...i haven't gotten to the solo yet...

and if so? if so? who answers? who answers?

    chorus....

yeah the solo is different...it's still the basic thing but he goes down after the intro to the solo instead of up and it's just different...i like it...but i hope the original is still heard more often than this one.... i think he changed it for rock band

Doesn't sound like just a "remaster" to me! This is more the kind of thing I was expecting from the "remix" disc. Note, I haven't heard it yet, just going by people's comments.

  • The whole thing sounds the same to me except the solo, which is DRASTICALLY different.

I like the old version better.

Alive is in Rock Band 2 already and it is the same notes as the Ten version. Are they going to double dip on the song for the downloadable release on Rock Band? Will I have Alive with normal solo and one with recut solo or the same song with touch ups?

The real question is, is the version on Rhapsody the remixed version or the remastered version?

Way different from Ten--you can easily tell the difference. Nice changes in the solo too, but I don't like how it gets lost under Ed in the middle.

    Once sounds really good.
Even Flow sounds amazing of course. The solo sounds incredible.

That is definitely a longer solo on Alive at the end then I have ever heard and a different solo in the main solo if that makes sense. Interesting.

first, i have to admit that i probably have not listened to the ten album in years, but those 3 songs sound great, much more clearer. i ordered the super deluxe and the vinyl set just because, but i guess for the first time i'm pretty excited to listen to this.

It sounds really great and I'm only 45 seconds in. It seems to flow much better, and the guitar sound is more defined.

In fact all the instruments are clearer. I find myself actually listening to the bass which never happens on Ten. Score 1 for Jeff!

I'm digging the solo! I will definitely listen to this version a lot.
    Great job.

That is one kick ass solo at the end. I wonder if its a re-record or some other take of the song.

The "landscape" of the sound has been changed. That's for sure. Individual instruments are much easier to pick out. The first thing I heard was how much Ament's bass stands out. You're definitely right about eV's voice having a little more of an "echo" quality. Stone's guitar has a little more of the "twang" that it has in live shows. McCready's solo at 3:49 and on is definitely different (also a big change at 4:41 and 4:54 to the end).

It's hard to see how this is just a "remaster" and not a "remix." Not bad, but sure is different. Can't wait to hear it in full fidelity!

At the 4:18 mark when ed comes back in for a bit...HE sounds different too...Not just a different solo, but a little different screaming and uh huh-ing! I actually LOVE the way it sounds...I am sure most will hate it cause its "different", but I for one DIG IT! :)

It doesnt sound too bad. But, the original Alive solo is one of my favorite solos of all time. Should have left it alone. Like others have said, nothing compares to the live versions when Mike just destroys this solo.

wtf... it has the ep "Pearl Jam X-posed: The Interview"? I thought that was a bootleg everytime I saw it in a record store with the cheap looking cover and title.

I disagree. The original studio solo of this song is fuckin amazing, and is never replicated live. Sorta like the one in 'Go' as well.
