I am trying to file my daughters taxes. I need her aig from last year. But when I go to turbo tax and try to bring up last years return I get a message that says the adobe acrobat reader I have can not be used to read a pdf file in a web browser.
I can't figure out if there is anyway to save this file to the desktop to read or if there is someway to make it so that I can use adobe in a web page or what the heck I am doing wrong.
I am using firefox but I get the same message if I use netscape.
Any clues?

Yeah I think so. I can get to it on my computer, no idea why it isn't the default.
Maybe I will just try to re-download it and install it again.

maybe- try going into your preferences and seeing if acrobat is chosen- or choose a different program to download it to. If all else fails, call turbotax.
  • try uninstalling acrobat reader, reboot, and reinstall? Make sure no browsers are open when installing

if you're using a Mac, set your default to Preview. that's what i have to do sometimes when Acrobat acts up.

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO turbo tax!!!

My brother who is an accountant was doing my taxes the other day, and for some reason Turbo Tax was adding money to my income. About $1400, but whenever we checked what was input it was right. It was just adding wrong for some reason.

So he used his other program, which is good, because my refund is more, but now I have to mail in the returns instead of e-filing them.

    Stupid Turbo Tax!!
  • I've used Turbo Tax for about 15 years and had pretty good luck with it. I mainly like it because I can import from Quicken and from last year's return. My husband has some self-employment income and it takes a lot of the hassles out of figuring that stuff.

But last year I did have a couple of problems where I had to enter some of the info rather than import it. It will let you override the import.

Yeah I am pretty sure it is just something with my computer not anything with turbo tax. I use them every year and we get a nice refund.

Ok so I re-installed adobe, restarted the computer, just haven't been back to tackle the taxes yet.
But Thanks for all the ideas!

  • had the same problem between firefox and adobe. i solved it by first removing the version of adobe on my computer. then i opened up another window using internet explorer while keeping firefox open in one tab. go to the adobe web site and click the link to update to the latest version. when it goes to that page. copy the link in the address bar and paste it in the tab open in firefox. close ie, shut down your computer and restart it. it worked fine after.

i recently had an issue with adobe reader with firefox where it would appear to download the file, then crash my window. i was able to update by installing the latest version again.

another option is, if you have office 2007, set the document to print as a page on one note.
