Almost a year ago, on January 23rd, 2008, Hamzeh Chavi and Loghman Hamzehpour, two homosexual young men of 18 and 19, were arrested by the police in Sardasht, in Iranian Azerbaijan. During questioning, the two admitted to their “crime” of loving each other and being in a relationship. Their confession was enough for the Islamic court to commit them to trial on two serious charges: mohareb, the crime of those who are "enemies of Allah" and lavat, sodomy. Iranian criminal law envisages the gallows for homosexuals and the two boys are in danger of being executed.

that's a terrible story. and not to dismiss it, but unfortunately there isn't much we, as american or european or austaralian citizens can do to affect the Iranian gov't. it makes much more sense to focus on the crimes of your own gov't, that is something you affect.

True..but it doesn't hurt to sign the petition. There have been instances where once the UN got involved, something like this was stopped just to save face over there.
