Got mine from the sticker booth at a mall. The one that cuts vinyl stickers... Ended up getting 4-4" ones, and 4-2" ones. All various colors. I paid $27.50 for all of 'em.
One on my truck, one on my snowboard, one on the back on my iPod, one on laptop, one on travel coffe mug....

I bet yours looks sweet... A foot by a foot. that's pretty big!!!

ripped? dont think so... most people spend $40 on starbucks, taco bell or some other stupid consumable items and what do they have to show for it? Nada. I on the other hand have a bad ass decal representin the most ultimate band in the world, which be seen for years to come....

ripped... i dont think so. i think its well worth it.

    any fanatic would agree.

    I don't think $40 is alot for a 12X12 custom decal.

I just spent $40 to customize my own PJ t-shirt...It has the stickman logo on the front and says "restless soul, enjoy your youth" on the back.... $40 is nothing! :D

I purchased a 6"x6" one off of eBay for $5 around Christmas. The seller had a bunch of them in a variety of different colors.

Hi. I'm a fanatic. Nice to meet you.
I spent $5 on a stickman, in my choice of color, from a custom detailer an a car dealership. It's about 6" high.
Again, I say, you got ripped.
As would the person who spent $40 on Starbucks or Taco Bell.

The first copy of something off a press (or serious digital printer) costs bucks, the next gazillion cost next to nothing. It's the setup -- and from the sound of it, some serious professionals here with good grade vinyl and ink. Was just about ready to do that myself for my new car!

Pride in quality products. Nothing wrong with that.

Bet his $40 version is looking cherry 5 years from now while all your cheap ones are cracked, faded, or dust.

    Good job I say!

    I can make vinyl stickers.

It is a hassle to do it though b/c the machine doesn't belong to me... and... I have to pay to use it... but 40 bucks is way more than I'd have to pay to use the machine and make 1 sticker.

    That's true to an extent.

It depends on how it's being printed, really. If they're using plates, it can get costly... but if it's a more modern press it can get cheaper (way cheaper than 40 bucks)... anyway, this is just from what I know from working @ a printing press... and a very old one at that.

I purchased a 6"x6" stickman decal off of eBay for $8.00 a little over a year ago. It is high quality. I bought another one for my wife's minivan from the same dealer this past Christmas at the same price. $40 is way too much. Look around, you are bound to find one cheaper.

That was my thought too. I was going to get a 12"x12" to centre on the back window of my truck but it was a little too over the top. I went with a nice discrete white 4"x4" in the corner of the back window on my truck.

I got one from amazon for like $4.00. I'm sure the white won't fade in 5-7 years.

I work for a major digital printers here in Dublin and we basically print everything and anything including vinyl for van wraps etc. If you are looking to get something like this done beware of terms like "custom" design or print. Its a roll of vinyl that you print on - simple. It may adjust the price too if you order a few. For example our machines print 1300mm wide (just over 4ft) so if you only want something 6" x 6" they're probably gonna charge you for wastage.

As others have said shop around and ask how they print their vinyl and get media width etc. Anyone with any basic skills in Illustrator or any vector package can then design exactly what they want and hey presto you're sorted!

Still at the end of the day any print shop can charge what they like with whatever bullsht excuse but the process is quite simple really. If its not being die cut (cut to custom shape) you could do it on a roll of clear vinyl, any text could be kiss cut etc.
