  • it's sad that this album doesn't get the love it deserves usually but this review is pretty spot on. i love this album and i'm glad someone out there knows how great riot act truly is. and it's funny, i've had ghost in my head for the past hour or so :P

When i recently copied my Pearl Jam collection onto my computer (Windows media player) for safe keeping you can click 'album info' and that same review comes up. I checked the review for all the studio albums and they were all great!!!!! However nothing came up for Yield and they only gave it 2 stars!!!!! All other albums were well reviewed and got at least 4 stars!!!!!

Nice find. I agree with the reviewer's thoughts on Yield as well.

Green Disease needs to be a "track pick".

Nice props for Matt, but some credit is due to Boom in terms of
filling out PJ's sound on Riot Act. I've always been a big fan of the
B3 and the dimensions it adds to music. I can't imagine songs like
    Love Boat Captain without it.

I don't hate it as much as Fanch (nice avatar by the way), but I don't like much it at all. A lot of people don't like either Riot Act or 8, but I consider the Avocado to be a complete 180 from Riot Act. So much more energy and Eddie acts like he give a damn. Great story telling and more Mike is always a good thing.

Riot Act = dull, lifeless, uninspired, complete with non-sensical lyrics. Eddie sounded tired and drained and like he wasn't even trying. Mike? You there? Save You and the solo in All or None are about it. 1/2 is OK I guess. Too many filler songs and spoken word nonsense. I don't like Bush either, but is Bushleaguer the best they could come up with? Have you read the lyrics? What the fuck? Same goes for Cropduster, Ghost and the awful Get Right. This album has two great songs (I Am Mine, All or None), three OK songs (Can't Keep, LBC and Save You), and a bunch of stuff I could care less about ever hearing again.

I think they know it too because they even mentioned wanting to put out a better effort than Riot Act and how many Riot Act songs get played on tour now?

However, that is just my personal view and I will not bash anyone who loves it. That is what makes us all PJ fans. I love Avocado. Think it is in their top 3. Others hate it. To each their own.

I like music with some balls & good times behind it. Sue me. The same reason I like the Crue, Oasis, and a bunch of other bands. Where is soulsinging and his story about how he heard these two indie rock snobs discussing the artistic merits of some song with a dog barking (on vinyl, of course)?

I don't hate any of PJ's albums....I love songs from each....Actually, over the years my taste in their songs have changed. Songs that I kinda didn't like 5-10 years ago, I am starting to love now!!

I agree with all of this (including the love for 8). I bought riot act as I was having a Pearl Jam renaissance, as I loved YIELD but fell off after that (I didn't even buy Binaural at the time of its release). riot act was such a disappointment.

How? God, why? Just to be different? It's like saying that Sweet Lew is Pearl Jam's answer to Stairway to Heaven.

It's my least-loved PJ record, but at least the tour was really good.

woah woah wait a second... you didn't buy Binaural when it was released? I bought that album and every other when I could, BEFORE it was released. Like I said, This review is the one it deserves and it's not from a fan with compromised love.

Riot Act is great when it's played live. I almost passed out from excitement when they opened Hartford with Can't Keep.
I have no patience for bad music and stupid people...
