Foo Fighters Live

I know I'm going to take heat for this, but MY GOD they are horrible live! I am a big fan, but holy hell they suck some serious ass live.

Dave needs to seriously stop f'n yelling at the damn time and sing the f'n song. Screaming 5-6+ times per song for us to "come on", "sing it", and whatever nonsense he yells...seriously shut up Dave!

They have a lot of energy live, but a) Dave can't sing worth shit b) His screaming is atrocious and ruins pretty much every song and they are just do damned scripted.
I have the show from Wembly Stadium on in the background and it's damn near makes me cringe.

I much, much, much prefer them doing more acoustic stuff because IMO they are 100x better when they can just chill, play their instruments (opposed to their power chords pounding over Dave's shitty screaming) and....*gasp* sing, and even then I generally think most of their lyrics are decent at best.

Again, I am a fan, but they are one of the biggest disappointments live.
I've been to two live shows (seen all of the DVDs) and I can't imagine a situation where I'll go back.

I agree about the singing - watched Ramble On with Page and Jones there on youtube and he just screams most of it, the guy can sing so I dont know why he does that. Overall though they are a good live band, they put on a decent show I think. Each to their own though.

You can always tell how good a band is compared to simply listening to their album

I have no clue how many shows I went to but I agree with this. They were probably one of the worst. I've seen them before and wasn't all that impressed. I think I really just went to see them play My Hero, which most of it was acoustic so that made me happy. I loved the acoustic part but other than that, I didn't care for the show. I really wish Dave would go back to playing drums.

I agree and disagree at the same time.
I like Dave singing, when he does just that...sings. When he's running up and down that long stage, screaming every 10 seconds and is all out of breath to even sing the next line...and he just butchers it, at this point I think he needs to chill the F out.
When they play acoustic stuff and Dave is sitting around and chilled out, that is the live Foo Fighters I like.
The only chance I ever see them live again is if I know the entire show will be acoustic, because they are just horrendous live otherwise.

Dave is a talented guy, but he has waaaaaay too much pull in that band. I'm certain he can get away with anything he wants to. Compare that to PJ. And while I do think Ed gets away with a lot of shit within the group, PJ is much more democratic and each part is so much more of the "whole"...if that makes any sense.

Either way, after watching Wembly last night I am now certain my Foo Live days are done...unless it's all acoustic.

Dave used to be able to scream good, but now his voice is just total shit when he tries to. Besides the 'come on', 'sing it', etc stuff, it pisses me off to no end when he raises his hand in the air after almost every strum.
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!

Wow, after reading these comments, I think I'm gonna stay away from the Foo's live stuff. I really enjoyed their acoustic set from back in 2006, I have the CD and I've seen the show on HDnet (hehe), and it was a well played show. But yeah, I have seen a few times where the band has played "loudly" and it really wasn't very good.

I think screaming can be done in the context of a song, but he does it every 3 minutes where you would never even expect it. Between that and him essentially begging the crowd to "come on" or "sing it"...i'm pretty sure they'll do that if they want to anyways.

Yeah, it seemed like for the first 20 mins of the Wembly show, he had has right hand in the air at least 15 mins of the time.

    Just terrible!

    Wow. Could not disagree more.
Saw them at the Joe in Detroit and was amazed. Thought they were awesome.
Maybe I just got a great show...
