I went back and listened to some cd's like TEN and No Code, and I realized that I really like the music. Binaural sucked (I think the fellows even know that) but hey, everyone has an off day.

ya, no code is pure genius. Binaural is kinda like that goop that forms on the bottom of your stove. You just kinda look at it cause you dont want to touch it. Its funny that when you dont like something, you must not be a "real" or "seasoned" fan! LOL I think for a joke Ed should purposely write an absolutely stupid song about poop and lollypops. Some people here would swear it was artistic greatness! LOL

What a small world! I never would have thought I would see another person who liked Pearl Jam on Pearl Jam's own forum page!

    Sorry for being an asshole.

It's just all this MSG crap is pissing me off!

    I LOVE Pearl Jam!

    Butthead: Huh huh.

i totally agree. i love binaural so i don't agree with you there but i hate when someone tries to say someone isn't a real fan because they don't like something. people have different tastes. let them listen to what they want to.

Well ... PJ did bring us Foxy Mop and Santa God. You'll find many people around here not fans of either. UGH .... I'd actually forgot about Santa God until this exact moment. Now I need to forget all over again :)

    Binaural rocks.

Sleight of Hand, Grievance, NAIS, Insignificance, Of the Girl, Rival... enough said.

    Lol @ this thread.

Personally I too think No Code and Ten come out ahead of Binaural in my album rankings, but to say Binaural "sucked" is pretty stupid. It really is an excellent album and made to high standards.

There are indeed a few songs that are below average (Evacuation/Grievance/Insignificance im looking at you!), however, there are some truly epic and mindbogglingly amazing songs on it to match, eg Nothing as it seems, of the girl, sleight of hand, rival and of course the amazing emotional closer parting ways.

So definitely, i think you should let go of some ignorance and give it another listen. After all, you said you only just realised how much you liked no code and ten lol... i know binaural takes longer to sink in but its so much more rewarding when it does - same sort of thing with Vitalogy (fucking amazing album)

There's already a band that writes songs about "poop and lollypops", they're called Nickelback. Sorry if I've offended any fans. You can tell Chad Kroeger to send a monster ballad after me. :)

    Binaural is fucking magical.

Sleight of Hand is in the TOP 3 BEST pj songs EVER .. takes you to another world

Nothing As It Seems, Parting Ways, and Of The Girl are also atmospheric genius.

and i'm not just saying this because i am a pj fan .. binaural is my 3rd favorite album behind YIELD, and yes, No Code.

and i don't think people said you seemed unseasoned because of you disliking of binaural. the fact that you said at one point "I like their music" came across that way .. considering everyone here practically worships their music, people kinda thought no shit, i hope so.

BUT NO HARD FEELINGS! glad you're lovin some pj. i've been diggin alot of no code lately myself too!

I completely agree with you. I love Sleight of Hand. What does hurt the album is that it is for the most part a better studio album than when it's performed live. NAIS and SoH both are perfect examples of my point.

i agree with you, but not fully. sleight of hand and nais definitely capture this magic on the studio version that just takes you away .. something that doesn't even seem able to be created by man! and yes, i don't think sleight of hand live will ever capture the feel it did in the studio, BUT it is still AMAZING live. got to see it in hartford 06. i was speechless. however, there is just something about that studio version. i dare you to listen while looking at a long empty road at night under the stars, and not be moved. NAIS, on the other hand, during a really good performance can be better live. i think mikey SHREDS THE SHIT out of it live. but it depends. normally the studio version actually is better. i always thought that however, until i saw the youtube video of it being performed in nurnberg, germany. wow

    god bless binaural!

riot act in general may need some growing dude. but when it does, it will hit you! lbc is excellent. just think of the message it is sending you. what's more important then love? the song kind of brings a crowd together i think. idk

When I first listened to NAIS, I thought damn that will be great live. I think my expectations for that song live has been likely higher than any other song that I can think of. I haven't yet hear the two versions you've mentioned, I'm behind on some boots, but I'm not surprised that there are at least a few times when it was performed well live.
