According to ex-NFL coach Jim Mora Sr., Jeff Ament and Pearl Jam would be his choice if he could pick anyone to play the halftime show during the Super Bowl. Mora announced this on tonight's episode of NFL Total Access on the NFL Network.

Yes...it's this Jim Mora...

He's a music groupie and a magazine junkie. Mora is a friend of Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament and has been backstage at a dozen or so of the group's concerts. He was buddies and a baseball teammate of Queensryche guitarist Mike Wilton at Interlake High School in Bellevue, Wash.

It's his son. Im guessing he got turned on to them by his son.

Seriously? You've got the stones to go there? Bruce Springsteen is without question a legend, and his recent albums are pretty decent proof that he hasn't lost much.

It would be cool to see a PJ halftime show, tho.

you can't lose what you never had...i mean he is a great writer...but he can't sing for shit and i never understood why anyone would think that he can.

doesn't the PJ plaing Super Bowl rumor come up every fuckin year? it's usually older musicians who are no longer really hitting it big among newer younger fans...i.e. tom petty, paul mccartney, etc etc...i mean thats the way it's been ever since the janet jackson and Justing Timberlake fiasco...so maybe a few years from now when PJ starts to slow down a lot due to age, but not anytime soon.

you know what would be great though? a Billy Joel half time show...that would pump the crowd up completely

U2 did it ... played 2 songs (Beautiful Day and Where the Streets Have No Name) ... they sounded great, I thought it was awesome (it did help that the Pats won that day :D ).

I'll bet Springsteen rips it up this Sunday.

I personally don't care if they ever do it, but if they did, I'll bet PJ could pull it off in spectacular fashion.

btw ... more Jim Mora Sr goodness ... diddly poo ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tie0tz7jGDI

I think PJ would rock the Bowl and the exposure to alot of new people would show and clarify to the world what an amazing band this is. I often get upset becuase i think PJ does not get the credit they deserve. This is due to some of the choices and backlash towards the media and corporate America that they have displayed in the past. Let bygones be bygones. It's all a part of the machine. Go with it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pearl Jam seems to fit the Neil Young model. if you can picture Neil Young playing a Super Bowl Halftime, then you can picture Pearl Jam playing a Super bowl Halftime. If you can't, you can't.
    ...
Personally, i hope they never do. Super Bowl Halftimes are for the women... the guys are supposed to go ourside and shoot hoops in the driveway or toss the pigskin in the street.

yeah i actually heard that the creation of the half time show was to help grasp the women...cause women wouldn't let their husbands watch the game and the game lost ratings and so they decided to commercialize it up the fuckin wazoo...to make it a night of entertainment and not a night of football...which attracts more women...

i could be wrong though...i've only heard that and it seemed to make sense

Man, U2 was so good that the NFL Network's rebroadcast of Superbowl 36 still includes their half time show, watching it now ... and they were fantastic ... TONS of energy, the place is going bananas.

You cannot tell me that if PJ got up there and ripped through 2 songs like U2 did (a new song and an old song, even if it were World Wide Suicide and Evenflow) you wouldn't watch it and enjoy it ... c'mon, McCready shreading a Superbowl solo ... please ...

I'll bet all you fuckers saying "no, please don't play the superbowl, it's sooooo cheeeeeesy" will be the first to stand up at your local superbowl parties and scream "Hey, everyone, shut the hell up! Pearl Jam is on!!!" ... don't lie.

Totally agree with you!!! Although i would think that Alive, RITFW would be among some better choices. Even Flow works but i don't know about World Wide Suicide for the Superbowl. Surely some corporate sponsors would object. Which is gonna make everyone say fuck playing it then. This is just the reality of the event. Some times you gotta bend over a little bit. Pearl Jam had to for ticketmaster at one time. That's just the way it is. Somethings will never change.
