PJ Super Bowl Board - (win PJ stuff!) SIGN-UP CLOSED

I mentioned my idea for the second annual PJ Message Pit Super Bowl board a few weeks back, and enough people responded in the thread or in PM's for me to be optimistic we can make it happen. For those who are unfamiliar, here's the idea:

This game is a Super Bowl board (or pool, whatever you want to call it). The board is essentially a grid of numbers from 0-9. Each person who enters will receive a Steelers number and a Cardinals number (for example, Steelers 7, Cardinals 2). If the final score for each team ends in your numbers (for example, Steelers 27-Cardinals 12, or Cardinals 42-Steelers 37, etc.), then you are the winner of the board. (For an example, check out last year's board: http://s54.photobucket.com/albums/g81/m ... lboard.jpg).

To make this a Pearl Jam board, the cost of playing will not be money, but rather a Pearl Jam 2000 or 2003 official bootleg -- or a PJ item of great value (please, please, please, no burned copies!!). So, if you are the winner, every other participant will have to send you the Pearl Jam bootleg they pledge in this thread.

Here are the official, detailed rules for the game:

1. You must be 18 or over to play!

2. The amount of entries (numbers) each participant gets will depend on how many people sign up for the game. I will divide 100 by the number of participants entered and that's how many entries each will receive. For example, if 25 people join, that means each person will get 4 entries. If the number does not divide evenly into 100, then there will be a few blank spots on the board...and if those blank spots are the final numbers in the game, we will revert back to the score at the end of the 3rd quarter, etc.).

3. Numbers for the board will be chosen at random. Basically, I will put numbers from 0-9 in a hat and pull them out at random to fill out that part of the board. Then, I will put every participant's name in a hat, once for each entry per participant (so in the above scenario, each person's name would go in four times) and will go along the board and pull out names one by one, and fill out the board as I go along. This is the best way I can think of to do this; if anyone has a different suggestion, let me know.

4. You MUST pledge an OFFICIAL PJ bootleg when you sign up. That means no burned copies; I want to make this worthwhile for us collectors! If you don't have any OFFICIAL PJ boots, you can offer something of equal or greater value (a poster, vinyl, etc.), and we can collectively decide whether to let you in or not.

Once somebody has pledged a specific boot, please do not repeat the same show. I would prefer that whoever wins gets a variety of different boots, not a number of the same ones.

5. If you enter, you MUST pay up if you lose. As you all know, building a reputation as a reliable person is important on this board -- enough said. Please be committed to sending the boot you pledge to the winner within a week after the game ends.

6. Participants must send me their e-mail and the address that they want their prizes to be sent if they win BEFORE the Super Bowl begins. This is simply to ensure that all members are committed to following through with their pledge. I will be in charge of distributing the winner's address to the other participants when the game is over.

7. There will only be one overall winner -- the person with the correct numbers at the end.

8. Sign-ups for the game will end on Thursday, 1/29 or when 25 people sign up (whichever happens first). That will give me a few days to make the board and find a place to host it for everyone to see.

If anyone has any problems with these rules, or anything that's need to be added, please let me know.

Here are a list of the participants (will be updated as people sign up):

1. walkunafraid -- Manchester, England 4-6-00 (official boot) OR Immagine in Cornice new/sealed DVD (winner's choice)
2. 5against1 -- Oslo, Poland 2000 (official boot)

24. ringo -- 2/23/03 Perth Australia (official boot)

Finally, if you want to see last year's thread for this, it is here: http://forums.pearljam.com/showthread.php?t=270750.

Thanks.

Sure thing -- I have no problem with a poster, and I doubt other members of the board will, either. Let us know which poster you're pledging and I'll add you to the list.

I'll put you in. If anybody has a problem with the pledge of the readily-available State College boot, please say so.

Also, I put LiteTheMatch in with his EV Cubs CD as well. Again, if anyone disagrees with that, please speak up.

Please correct me if i'm wrong but you said that there is only 1 winner. But in your original post you said that if you had Steeler 7 and Cardinals 2 you would win if the scores were Steelers 27 Cardinals 12 (which i agree with) and Steelers 42 Cardinals 37 (which i disagree with). Wouldn't someone else win with the numbers backwards? They would have Steelers 2 Cardinals 7. I hope this makes sense.

Oops, I messed up on my post. The second part should have read Cardinals 42, Steelers 37 -- so it's still a 7 on the Steelers and a 2 on the Cardinals. I'll go fix that.

Sorry, I think we're set on official PJ items here -- boots, posters, etc. I don't think the book really falls into the category. My apologies.

Sounds fair to me. I'm really bad about the value of items, though. Is there anything on the list so far that you would say does not fall into that range?

According to this website, it looks like you're right about 18 being the legal age for gambling as long as it's not in a place where alcohol is served: http://gamblelegal.com/Minimum_gambling_age.htm

Thanks for bringing that up. I'll change the rules to 18 and up (unless you're in a jurisdiction where you know 21 is the legal age to gamble).
