One question I do have , is that hatred restricted to flags of nation or does it equally apply to sports teams, etc.......

and THIS is what should've been done by post 2 in that other thread...so that one could remain on topic. ;)

me, i am all for flag waving if that's your thing. i'm not much of one myself...tho i do display my flag usually on national holidays, and for specific days of importance to me, in reverence of the memory of one who served.

as jimi sings - wave your freak flag high! that's my only real push for flag-waving.

also, i just had a massage....on company time, paid for by the firm...and will have one weekly for the next 2.5 months. god bless!:mrgreen::mrgreen:

oh my deepest apologies...i don't go searching out every post of yours, nor every one in response to mine. i hadn't actually revisted this thread until tonight.

i didn't b/c for quite a few posts, i actually tried to stay on topic and i also didn't want to take it off topic. imo, the person who decides to take a thread off-topic should instead choose to make another. that was my only point there. and actually, i was interested in the media bias discussion, so was hoping/reading for it to get back on track as sometimes threads do. i didn't 'choose' to make the thread about flag waving, nor was i blaming anyone....just making a statement...along with a ;) if you noticed. of course, sure...since the comments kept flowing there, i went with the flow...every once in a while trying to bring it back to the media focus. shall we debate this point to death, until it is a sensless, bloodied pulp...or is that answer sufficient for you? b/c of course, it's all about meeting your needs here helen. :)

***and, staying on topic.....don't hate flag wavers, not in the least. whatever makes you happy! unless of course you do so at some event and block my view...now that is silly, ignorant and arrogantly selfish.

During the racist riots in Cronulla (Sydney, Australia) some white supremacists wrapped the Australia flag around them and used it as some racist symbol. It was used similarly when they tried to block the building of an Islamic school and such. That is what I hate. As for flag waving, people have the freedom to do whatever they want.

Dunk, it could be a protest. US flag flown upside down is said to be taken as a signal of distress.

actually it didn't 'suggest' that at all, tis your inference. glad it's fine with you of course. :)

and yes, i like how many at protests fly the flag upside down, it speaks volumes...as does burning the flag, etc. a symbol is a great tool for voicing your pleasure, or displeasure...whichever fits.

yah those damn bastards should of waved the flag.. wrapping themselves in it was totally uncalled for

using the flag as a symbol of hate is what I hate but waving it around out of pride or whatever is none of my business.. i personally think standing there and waving a flag is lame, you would be pretty much equating yourself with a flag pole to do that.
