This band Fuckin' rocked once apon a time. Grohl needs to get rid of Taylor Hawkins, bring Pat Smear back on guitar, and eat a bottle of Viagra.

I thought he had brought Pat Smear back?

The last album had plenty of good rock hooks, they were never THAT hard rock.

according to this, it doesn't seem like he's officially back in the band

I've got that sit-down, semi-acoustic DVD by the Foo fighters, which is kinda soft, but it is outstanding. I think they've got a pretty good balance.
Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)

Foo Fighters are the shit. Don't forget that their first single was "Big Me", not exactly a hard rocking tune. I agree that they are well balanced and have a great sound. Dave Grohl is a great frontman. Too bad he wasted so many years behind the drumkit (even though he is probably one of the best drummers of the last 25 years)
He who forgets will be destined to remember.

Actually Big Me was the 5th single off the debut. But it was probably the 'biggest hit' of the album.

this is the most confusing post i've ever read. They're shit, but well balanced and havre a great sound? and Dave is s great frontman. Wasted years behind the drumkit, but still the best drummer of the last 25 years? i'm confused, is this love or distaste??

Wasted years behind the drumkit? I have to disagree. I like the Foo Fighters but I kind of always wished Dave would play drums full time for QOTSA.

Completely disagree. But, we all have our own opinions.

I'm pretty sure Pat Smear left the band on his own. I remember Grohl saying that the current lineup is their permanent lineup in an interview before their last album came out. I dont envision any lineup changes.
