Last night on VH1 they showed the Foo Fighters live from Wembley Stadium and towards the end of the show Dave made a speech about how the fans their had really shaped his band. I was wondering, and I guess this goes out to our friends in the U.K., how big are the Foo Fighters out there?

P.S. it's worth a watch if they show it again.

I saw that...they must be pretty big to rack up that Wembley crowd.

And Mr. Hawkins wasn't bad at all on the mic. I think he may have a career as a frontman. Look out, Dave!

I was front row at the show where Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones showed up and can confirm it was amazing in person ... Dave was so emotional! Also acouple of times I've seen them Brian May and Roger Taylor have showed up ... so Taylor gets to sing when he's kicked out from behind the drums :P

They are pretty big here. They sold out two nights at Wembley which holds 80,000+ and a few years ago (2006) they also sold out Hyde Park which holds a similar amount.

They play the gig as an all day thing though with 2 (or was it 3) support bands and a dj between slots at Wembley and 4 support bands at Hyde Park and so they are a bit more of an 'event' outside in the summer day out so don't just attract the usual gig crowd.

But they tour here pretty much every year.
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

If you haven't you should check out Taylor's Coattail Riders album. It's awesome.

Cool. Thanks for the feedback. I realize a lot of groups are huge in other countries other than their homeland. I was just kind of curious how big they were there. Also, the Wembley Stadium show on VH1 showed Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones playing Rock n' Roll with Dave on the drums.

Yep they played two tracks ... one Dave on drums one Taylor on drums ... think so they could both have a chance to by lead singer and drummer of Led Zep :P ... we kind of knew it was going to happen as people had heard the sound check the day before ... so lots of anticipation in the crowd waiting for the 'big' moment
