why the hell don't Pearl Jam play Hard Sun?

when eddie played it solo, he had to use parts of the recording to fill it out......Pearl Jam could pull it off just fine, especially when they had those back up singers at MSG....people would have gone nuts for that song, hardcore fans and non-hardcore alike
"I'll tell you what: If all I had was Pearl Jam, and I didn't have another band in the world, I would not be worried. Because in there is the essence of making great music. You don't have to use it all at once, but it's there." - Neil Young

I'm cool with that as long as they don't invite Corin Tucker to sing with Ed. She was OK on the album but I hate when she sings normally. IMO.

I'm sure we'll hear it sometime in the near future. I think Mike could shred it. The band probably didn't play it last tour because Ed was trying to keep his tour separate.

Ed's version of Hard Sun is one of those defining songs that he seems to have a knack of coming up with every few years - I'll be the first to admit, I was blown away when I first heard it and then WAY over played it over the next few months.

Not sure if I could really see the whole band playing though, and agree with others that I think Ed viewed those songs as distinctly his own, done at Sean's request (watch ITW special features where he discusses).

you do know that's not his own song, right? But I agree with you on his ability to find songs that completely match his voice and his talent as a singer.

I would be more than happy if the band play hard sun but maybe they're not going to play it because could be like pearl jam playing songs of tree fish or brad, maybe the'll keep it as a side project. But I'll sign any petition to heard that song play by PJ

I agree...Corin Tucker is a horrible singer!!! Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard...I could never understand why Ed wanted her singing backup on Hard Sun and she ruined the songs that she sang with Pearl Jam in 2003...especially when she sung Chris Cornell's part on Hungerstrike...worst version of that song EVER!!

I like Hard Sun but not for PJ, I def think it needs a female singer. I mean Jeff & Matt can hit some high notes but this sounded great at the solo shows with Eliza and I think Ed should just tour again solo and keep this as his own little gem.

Or they can just bring Eliza on stage when it's time for Hard Sun. Seriously, she could do wonders for some of the Pearl Jam songs live. Certainly way better than Tucker.
I like Slater-Kinney and I was really sad when they broke up. But anytime they came out on stage to do a song when they toured with Pearl Jam, they absolutely ruined whatever song they were singing along.
