Are there advertisements or public information films that you remember from your childhood as being downright scary or bizarre?
This one used to run all the time, throughout the seventies. It scared the life out of me:

And this. Every time I'm on the London Underground, I expect Mr Benn's little shopkeeper to appear from nowhere and tell me my leg is about to be ripped off:

I never owned a motorbike for this reason. Jimmy Hill?????
I wish I could find a clip of "Snatch of the Day". That wasn't scary, but it was a brilliantly clever public information film. It definitely dated from the mid-seventies, and I can remember it airing right from when I was pre-school, through to about my late teens. In spite of the fashions being so dated, it was a masterpiece.
WTF?? I love the way the cat talks!

Result! It would appear that the ad dates from 1975, and this is from someone's old video-recording of Sunday afternoon telly in 1986.
It starts at about 1:08.
I remember kids doing that!!
and, are you sure 'Snatch of the day' wasn't a movie you saw on a Ferguson videostar machine in 1884?
BTW.......RIP, Tony Hart :x
Now, this was really scary..."Jimmyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy..!!!!!!!"
Even now, I hear crazed analog synth music in my head as I pass pylons and electrical installations.

I double dog dare someone to take acid and watch that video, ... haha Charlie is wiggin!
We never had instruction videos about escalators. I kinda wish we did. I'll never forget the time my sister fell and her dress got caught in the escalator teeth at the bottom. They had to shut it off and her little dress was chewed up and covered with black grease spots. (!)
The only public info commercial I still remember was the crying Indian one where someone throws litter out on the road.
