wow wow wow, I have to say that was probably the nicest meal I've EVER had  it was fantastic... and the roast potatoes came out PERFECT first time  so the bf did the lamb but just had onions in the tray with it but it was fantastic. Me and his sister did the roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, roast parsnips, carrots, cauliflower, cabbage, stuffing, cauliflower cheese, yorkshire pudding and gravy. We didn't burn anything and it was sooo much fun... definitely gonna do that again loads :D . His mom's happy to BUY the food but she hates cooking roast dinners... so it makes soooo much sense cos we love cooking

So thank you all soooooooo much for the advice... urbanhippie, I followed yours to a tee and it was simple.
    lamb....yummmmmm 8-)

urban hippies methods are what me and the wife do as well..

we've always stuck by Jamie Olivers methods of sunday roasts

he has a few of his recipes on his website which will definitely help you for future meals 8-)
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

The trick is to stay ahead of the game, nowt worse than scoffing a Sunday roast then facing up to the dishes.....all those pots and pans, gravy tin....ugh!
I clean the pans as they become empty, that way it's only plates afterwards....pipsy :ugeek:

So I've mastered the roast potatoes... having made them 4 or 5 times now, they've turned out perfect every time. Did another Sunday roast today and had garlic and rosemary roasties... they were yummy yummy yum

Don't think I could venture into the Sunday roast territory yet. My next big meal will be bacon and cabbage, haven't had it in years and I have a craving :? The Mammy is doing a roast for dinner on Easter Sunday, which will be ok but she puts onions in EVERYTHING... yuck! I hate onions and never use them, so spend most my dinner time picking them out of all the food.
