Will the guys find a home *venue* in... London?

Anyone else fucking depressed at the state of the music scene in London? Astoria, Mean Fiddler, Metro, all gone. OK Metro wasn't that good but it sometimes had some cool bands on. I hear the Boderlien will not survive much longer.
So where would the guys play if they wanted to do anthother "astoria-esk" *i pray to god* gig again?
I am fearing most of the "smaller" gigs are going to transer to the O2 indigo bar as there isn't, going by memory, another venue that has the same capacity as the astoria right now. although they could always gut Zavvi and make it into a kick ass venue!

Sad day when the Astoria closed. Saw many good bands there (PJ being one of them). Guess in similar capacity venues, there's the Shepherd's Bush Empire or the Roundhouse, the Indigo Room being a bit bigger and there's also Brixton Academy (though double the capacity of the Astoria, still quite small). The Astoria was quite special though. The Indigo Room is fine but it's so much better having those venues in more or less central London.
Then there's all the tiny venues....

    :) I like your thinking.
    The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
    Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
    Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
    Chicago 07? And love
    What a different life
Had I not found this love with you

Roundhouse is bigger than Astoria I think.. and actually much harder for South Londoners to get back from than the O2! Same problem with the Forum.
Indigo is nice (saw The Who there just before Xmas), but out of the way and soulless (the whole 02 area is..not even a decent pub nearby!).
Shepherds Bush I like because it's handy for me, but there's less floor space and more seating.

    There's Koko, though I think it's a bit smaller.

But I don't think we're likely to see another Astoria-size gig anytime soon...few nights in Brixton or Hammersmith otoh..

I say again ... The Barbican Hall. It's all seater, though. I checked the capacity: 1949. Good for a 10 club show, though. ;)

I saw John Martyn at The Roundhouse. Legendary venue, but the acoustics are weird, as you'd expect with a round, domed building.

for Ed yeah maybe, for PJ, no way!
this is NOT a venue for a rock concert! (there's nothing on earth that'll make me seat at a PJ show! it's physically impossible! I had a hard enough time at Ed's ones!)

That's where we'll agree to differ then. I wish everyone would sit at shows, close their eyes and listen! :)
