I've had the odd gig where absolutely nothing works, and then I get home - 70 miles from the venue - and everything works fine. Those days are a fecker.

I officially decree that your day will get better from now, Helen! 8-)

Sorry about you day Helen. I have had bad luck the last couple of days too. Yesterday I got to work and my tire went flat - a big screw sticking out of it. I had to have it serviced, but it could have been a lot worse - I could have not discovered until when I left work when it would have been dark and the service station closed.

Today I get to the office (it is really, really cold here) and got a drink of water and everything worked. Within 1.5 hours all of the water pipes were frozen. I couldn't get a plumber so I went to Lowes and bought heat lamps, extension cords and clamps and crawled under the building myself. I had to cancel my appointment (new client - billable hours), and I still don't have water! I just hope and pray the pipes don't bust! I had planned to go see my critically ill aunt who is in a hospital 140 miles away tomorrow but now I have to come back to the office to check on the frozen pipe situation. AND..... I have been sick with parotitis since January 1!!!!!! The new year has just really, really sucked. I hate to whine, but I am doing it. Sorry.

Helen, sorry about your crappy day. I've had a few of those lately.
December 30 our pressure tank went out, that was $400 to replace
2 days ago, the bulp on our projector went out. That'll be $343 to replace. The worst part is when we bought it we were told it ounly had 50 hours on it and they're supposed to go for 2000 hours. We've used about 30 hours... so we were totally ripped off! F'ing eBay!
Yesterday, my espresso machine broke. I just got it fixed ($140) in June!
Frick! When it rains, it pours!
I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.
  • ok, I guess I should spill... well Wednesday my bf's dad told him we could move into his house next weekend (as our own)... really really nice house and really big... and we wouldn't have to put up with our weirdo housemate anymore. Yesterday my bf got told he was getting a 12% paycut (things were already gonna be hard) and today his dad said he's gonna have to put the date back til march (he gave other reasons but I know it was cos of this). So now I'm just pissed off cos that was gonna be the first big change since I moved over here... I'm already pissed off not being able to find a job and it's just constantly disheartening... I know some people think I'm not even bothering... but I'm applying for 5 or 6 jobs a day (or however many there ARE to apply for) and I'm just sick of being a loser :(

I know :( that's really shit. Well thing is, I can deal with it pouring. But not when one minute things are great and we get great news... the next you get bad news that takes the good out of the good news... and it's just messing with my head at the mo

You are not a loser. You've just had some disappointments. And keep in mind that the bad economy probably has more to do with you not getting a job than any failure on your part.

Parotitis is the bacterial form of mumps. I have felt bad since New Year's with swollen glands along my jaw line, but I have that quite often due to chronic allergies, etc. However, this time my jaw got so swollen it looked like I had mumps. That is when I went to the doctor. I did not suspect mumps since I had that when I was a kid. But mine was a bacterial infection while mumps is the viral version. So I found out I was not contagious so I can kiss babies, go to the old folks home and visit my aunt in intensive care. I looked pretty funny this week, but the prednisone and antibiotics have reduced the swelling and I feel pretty good now. Thanks for the well wishes.

That old saying is so true..... "when it rains it pours." But there is another old saying...."it is always darkest before the dawn." So those of us with some pouring rain, let's keep our chins up!

    good advice!
Yesterday, I was almost run off the road by a lunatic road-rager. I'm not kidding, on a two-lane highway, he pulled up next to me (in the oncoming traffic lane) and pointed with his devil finger "YOUUUU!" I was so scared! But, here I am... still alive! Things could have happened so differently and I might not be here.
I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.
