Not sure if any of you have gotten to hear it yet, but it's pretty darn good. Outlaw Pete is a really good track, I think it's his best effort since The Rising.
Borgata II, Philly 05, ER 1 06, ER 2 06, Camden I 08, MSG I 08, MSG II 08, Mansfield II 08, EV 1 NYC, EV NJPAC

  • unlike any other bruce album I can think of. He isnt pissed off at anything really. pretty bizaare actually. I really like the album and will see him live, but its not the album I expected.

He isnt railing against the war, or world conditions in a single song. That alone is bizaare.
  • I hate to say this as a big Springsteen fan but I have listened to the album about 5 times now before I passed judgement. But I can definitley say the album is not good. In Springsteen albums there is usually an underlying theme not on WOAD. It is just a bunch of songs thrown together. If you like "The Big Man" well he only plays on maybe 2 songs that I could tell. My favorite on the album is The Wrestler which I think could be considered a classic Springsteen song. I won't say the album is unlistenable but it is one of his worst efforts.
  • I have not heard it yet though I can hardly wait to. I have heard three of the songs and liked what I heard.
Magic seemed to be a big hit with most everybody, but I didn't like that much. Maybe it was one of those that didn't stirke a chord with me the first time I listened and I never really gave it a chance.
When I reach for a Springsteen cd though it almost always The Rising or Born to Run. The Rising was actually the album that made a huge fan out of me and I list it among my favorite albums...but I've heard many people say it was a mish-mash of songs thrown together as far as musically. But, there are very few albums I have ever listened to that could make me so excited one minute and get me to thinking really hard the next.
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all

Give it a spin it is not HORRIBLE but it is not his best work IMO. Here are a few standouts:

    My Lucky Day
    Tomorrow Never Knows
    Life Itself
    The Last Carnival
    The Wrestler
  • ^^ It shall be spinning in the near future....

One listen through I agree with you...there may be a few growers on there though. Not his best, but I like it better than I did Magic right off
