By now, you all probably already know my love for my hometown band Bon Iver.
Buuuut...new board, new thread...you know.
Check out their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/boniver
The four tracks on their new EP "Blood Bank" are streaming for a limited time...the EP was released at their hometown show a month ago on vinyl...but it's 'real' release is Jan 20th.
It's soooo good. I'm loving "Blood Bank" and "Babies"

Justin Vernon is the man. It's a little odd to hear his "real" voice on his solo albums after hearing him first as Bon Iver. I'd love to see him live.

Bump because Blood Bank is epic.

When he played the title track in concert last December, Justin broke some of the strings on his guitar and then looked around confused and announced to us, "Um, I've never done that before.."

My roommate bought me "For Emma.." and Liam's "I'll Be Lightning" on vinyl for Christmas...both of them sound great! I obviously have the best roommate ever. I have "Blood Bank EP" on vinyl too as well as the For Emma/Wisconsin single.

What's your favorite song? I don't know if I can choose...The Wolves has a lot of personal significance for me...I like For Emma because it's so quirky. Flume is great...so is Skinny Love, especially the MySpace Transmissions version or the version they play live with the drums.

Wisconsin is a great B-Side...a real hidden treasure... while Blood Bank and Babys are the highlights on the EP (damn, the whole EP is a highlight...I could go on and on...)

I LOVE Wisconsin. I think I may have bought it off iTunes awhile ago. My favorite track changes. Skinny Love hooked me since that was the song all the blogs were pimping initially. For my year-end mix, I used Lump Sum. But overall, I think it's re: stacks.
I didn't buy the Blood Bank vinyl yet - I'd already spent a bunch of money on PJ (Vs. mint for $30!) and REM. But I downloaded it for now.

Do you have the Daytrotter session?

It's available on itunes. i wasn't looking for cds, but judging by the massive quantities of vinyl around nyc this weekend, it should be easy to find.

"Blood Bank" (the song) is awesome, really digging it.

Love "For Emma...", great stuff. Saw them perform in NYC a few months ago, fantastic show. "The Wolves" was amazing in concert.

Yes! The Daytrotter session is very good.

I think it's amazing how he has been able to really insert his music into popular culture, TV and such...but it doesn't feel like he's selling out by doing so. It's all very tastfully done.

The band just makes me so damn happy.

So I finally listened to For Emma yesterday and I loved the album. I think I have been listening to Skinny Love for two days straight. I don't know what it is about that song but I can't stop listening to it.

Go see them live! It's even better! This band is seriously my second favorite band right now!

Get the Dark Was The Night Compilation, they are on there too. Great song too!

Bon Iver live was probably one of the most poignant experiences of my my 2008..if not my life. Their homecoming show was magic. What I would give for a bootleg of that night..

I can't say enough about these guys and this band. (I'm from Eau Claire...my grandma's house is in Brackett, WI just down the street from he house Justin grew up in. I think that some of the cover shots from "For Emma..." are actually on the outskirts of her land..)

I'm bringing this thread back to the front page after watching a couple videos of Justin and the boys completely tearing it up at Sasquatch.

Blood Bank is officially back to being my song of the moment. Can't. Get. It. Out. Of. My. Head!

Don't miss them if you're at ACL, Roo, or Lolla this summer.

Really, not only does this album sound terrific, the compositions are great. Maybe you're not used to the falsetto?
