Anyone with any experience regarding these units? I need to get all my VHS tapes upconverted, and it would cost more in computer components to do it that way than it would to buy the unit. (Plus, I still would like a VCR on hand.) I'm looking at a couple I can buy locally, mainly a Toshiba and Panasonic unit. The Toshiba is less expensive but is only compatible with -R DVD's for recording. The Panasonic is very expensive but is compatible with everything.
Reviews for these machines is rarely better than 3 Stars, but it mostly seems to do with the recording timer from TV to DVD. I figure the workaround to that is to record onto VHS, and if you want to keep the program, then re-record it onto a DVD.

I'd like to know if anyone has anything to offer regarding these machines. Thank you.

I have a Panasonic. It's a little different because the one I have has a hard drive in it that lets you edit before you burn. I have never had a problem with it. I also use the Sony DVD-R and they work great.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.
