In the spirit of Post your Daily Workout, here is a space to post about your current craft project.

I'm determined to finally finish all of the needlepoints that I started, and to completely deplete my knitting yarn stash. Right now I'm finishing 5 needlepoints with the same gauge stitch, and a lot of the yarn colors can be used on more than one canvas. One is a 2008 Christmas present for my parents, 2 are 2009 Christmas presents for my twin's family, one is for me, and the last one may be for me. I'll post images of the projects in progress when I have them. What are you working on:

Knit
Needlepoint
Quilt (I know you're out there)
Woodworker
Metalworker
etc

What are you working on?

    Man, I have tenacity, eh?

This year was a year of destashing. I finished 3 needlepoints that are gifts a few years latehttp://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs024.snc1/2463_1050930045312_1587572007_123565_8330_s.jpg. I finished my dad's socks for Christmas, and now working on my mom's. I bought the yarn for both last year, and just waited to be inspired. I ran out of yarn for my mom's so I'm waiting for the shipment from LoopyEwe to come back. I have two of their late Christmas needlepoints in the queue.

I completed a baby blanket with yarn I bought last year http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs116.snc3/16342_1185692974301_1587572007_459006_3442299_s.jpg. It was win-win inspiration. The color is rose, and the baby's middle name is rose. It took at least 45 hours, but I couldn't wait to finish it. The mommy was on bed rest throughout the summer, and the daddy was hit by a car, and had a broken hip this summer. They are both doing well, now, but when I found out he was going to be a daddy, I knew this yarn had a place because of what they went through this summer. It took me about 3 weeks, and she was a little over 2 weeks old when I finished it.

I think I'll need to take quilting into my own hands, as the quilt shop is too far away, and they mostly have day courses. I'll find that thread we had previously where Kat referenced an online quilting course.

pics are a bit small to truly appreciate, but sure looks like nice work!
my mother was THE knitter/needlepointer/crocheter/seamstress...i mean, amazing, amazing stuff! sadly, she was noyt much of a teacher ;)...so none of us have followed in her footsteps. and, given she is 81 years old....she still knits/crochets up a storm, especially for charity....but no more seamstress. THAT i miss the most. she made amazing clothes.

i am more of a home and garden improvement crafter. :D

Yeah, the links are from my facebook, and I don't know how to make them bigger. The original images in my camera are pretty big. I wished i sewed. It's like I have an internal longing for needle and thread. i've been needlepointing for 30+ years, and my stitch is consistent, so I should be able to transition to quilting/sewing easily. The classes are just too far away, and not at a safe time for me. To get on the metro at 9pm at night to arrive back after 10pm is not an option at this point. Within the past couple years Kat (I think it was Kat and not Sea) posted a link to an online quilting course. I hear quilting is expensive, but man, the stories you can tell with a quilt. It's such a blank canvas with amazing colors and patterns to work with.

Gardening is a great skill! Ah! So many ways to explore the world in one's home/backyard. I mean I would love to have a garden one day with 10+ varieties of heirloom tomatoes. Wouldn't that make you drool? All of that red, all of that sauce potential and to have the knowledge of which one to use based on flavor profile of tomato and dish. :)

not to get off topic.....that is all in the 'let's talk dirt' thread. ;)
my husband just made a batch of his arrabiatta sauce from the last of our garden's tomatoes.

and i am always impressed with the crafty skills. i just have no patience at this point. just stick with art, and even that...outside of photography, don't do much of anything else. just sooo much to do, so little time to do it all!

I stopped by a bead store this weekend. Boy, have times changed since 1990 when I last entered a bead store. It looked like a lot of fun to create beaded necklaces and earrings, and the colors of beads/wire/string are incredible. Anyone create jewelry with beads?

Also, I went into a new yarn store this weekend, and almost drooled over these incredible shades of blue! Oi! I feel myself getting flushed just thinking about those blues. The yarns weren't sock yarns, and I primarily knit socks. I need to expand my knitting-horizons so I can get those blues between my fingers.

  • Ohhhh good thread! :D

Currently I have a few projects on the go:

Making jars of 6 variaties of sweets for present to give at Christmas
Hand made bead and pottery tree decorations.
    A drawing for Secret Santa.
Hand painting the jars for the sweets and tea light holders.
A costume for the Rocky Horror show.

I have the supplies for these projects... it's just finding the time at the minute :?
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
