The last half was pretty good, but I just didn't get the first part. Must have missed something.... I'll watch it again if it comes on TV again... :?

I loved that movie but I haven't watched it in years. :)

When Harold was a boy he almost died and his mother was devastated. It was the only time he ever felt loved by anyone.

He detests the rich pomp his mother displays especially trying to get him married to a 'proper' girl.

All of that sets up his fascination with death/dying, his rejection of money and these young pretty woman, and his eventual love with Maude. Where he learns about love, life, and the reality of death.

I love that movie. My 12th grade AP English teacher showed it to her students every year, and would cut it off right after they wake up in bed, just to freak everyone out for the next 24 hours. Great soundtrack too.
  • just watched it on TV the other day too... definitely in my top 3 movies of all time!
