I will not make any friends by saying this, but....
Remember when the Christmas single was (or at least seemed) more 'exclusive'? It seems that the tracks are now being made available to everyone (including the radio) and I seem to recall that the singles were pitched (at least very early on) as little jewels for their fans to enjoy...and then POW! Last Kiss #2 on Billboard...Pearl Jam's highest ranking single to date...it also seems to be a real problem for them to execute this perk nowadays, so how about if we all get an autographed "something" once a year, by even just ONE of the band members since we all love this band with every ounce of our beings (and wallets)...I'm not trying to be negative at all...if Pearl Jam wasn't around, I don't know WHO the F-ck I'd be inspired by...they are the creators of the soundtrack of my life, and I love them all deeply for it, and I cannot feel the same excitement for any other group of musicians...BUT, I think there is an opportunity for the band to make an adjustment that could prevent all this...change can be good, and to me, the Christmas singles of recent years have lacked the punch of many of the earlier ones...
Don't Shoot!!!

That's why the year after Last Kiss they did Drifting and Strangest Tribe. Not very rock like, or radio friendly. Although I do think they did a good thing with Last Kiss when it got huge, and people were paying $50+ for the 45 (because that was the only way to buy it), they released it on cd for charity.
The signing idea would be cool, but if the recent 48,000 current members is a round about accurate number, that would mean that they would have to sign just under 10,000 things each... Or even if you include Boom, that's still 8,000 times. That's not very realistic. Even if they started on January 1st every year for the next year, they would have to sign 22 items each EVERY DAY.
