I already have firefox/mozilla as an icon on my desktop. Think I should just reinstall it?

I agree with Firefox. Since I've been using it (a few years now), I've had almost zero issues with pop-ups."I'd rather be with an animal." "Those that can be trusted can change their mind." "The in between is mine." "If I don't lose control, explore and not explode, a preternatural other plane with the power to maintain." "Yeh this is living." "Life is what you make it."0

I have the ABP icon in my tool bar so it appears to be installed
and then after restarting the computer a popup showed up again. grrrr
So it looks as though ABP(adblock plus) isn't effective
Any Help is much appreciated!! Thanks########################

popups show up while i'm not even connected to the internet
always the pop up box says to download a program from "www.regfixit.com"
1. download registry update from http://www.regfixit.com
2. install registry update
3. run registry update
4. reboot your computer
it's the weirdest thing...anyone have any experience getting rid of this?
thanks########################

strangest thing cause im not even logged into the internet and the popup still shows up
so i guess it's not website driven

You're totally infected. Whatever you do, don't do what it recommends.
Scan using the usual recommended adware scanners, in safe mode if necessary until you get a clean from a few of them. ad aware, spybot and super anti spyware should do it. The more the merrier.
Then go to Firefox 3 if you aren't already and install the adblock plus addon. I like the noscript addon as well to prevent cross site scripting attacks which cannot be prevented without it.
Make sure you have all your windows updates as well.

Get all your updates rolling, uninstall ad aware, download the latest and re install. The biggest concern is that you might have some rootkits installed (backdoors) which can open up a world of insecurities.
If the madness pursues, it might be a good idea to run a program called "hijack this" which spits out a list of all your running services, and good/bad stuff hooked into your browser and startup routine. From this I can tell you exactly what should be there and what shouldn't.Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
