Web hosting?

Is there a decent site anymore for web hosting (http)? My ISP Cavalier Telephone apparently doesn't offer this service...they said they could set it up for me but I think they meant the "personalized google homepage" on cavtel.net. I'm not talking about a full-service hosting company or registering a domain name, I just want to put up a page with some text and pictures, and an embedded flash object. It's for a fundraising thing I'm doing where the "personalized donation page" at the site doesn't allow links or embedded flash objects. I'm going to send an mp3 to anyone who donates and I wanted to put up a 10-second clip.

So what is the new geocities? :-) I have a myspace account only so I can subscribe to band blogs...I don't want to make that public. At some point I hope to have an ftp server so an http server would be easy enough, but for right now I just want to host one page and set it up fast.

P.S. So as not to be mysterious...the fundraising is for the ALS walk (Lou Gehrig's disease) and the mp3 is from the Mingus Awareness Project concert. Mingus had ALS and the mp3 features a big band, kind of a Richmond jazz supergroup, playing Better Get Hit in Your Soul. It's great. I'm going to post a thread in AET when I get it set up in case anyone cares to donate.

THAT'S IT! <-- said like Charlie Brown when Lucy diagnoses him with pantophobia, the fear of everything.

Of course, blogs are the new geocities, duh! I guess since I want this to be semi-anonymous I will create a separate google account so I'm not giving out my real email address. Thanks!

Can you embed flash into a blog? I didn't think so, but I could be wrong. If you can't you can always do what I used to do back in the day and just put an image of the flash object in the blog and link out to a separate page with the flash (which leads you back to your original problem of where to host the pages with the flash content...).
I smile, but who am I kidding...

Oh maybe you're right...I was thinking that the Language Log blog does it, but I guess it might be just the image. I need to find the flash music player my friend used to use anyway. I'll report back when I try that.

If it's too hard I might go a different route and try asking the RVA Jazz blog to host the clip in a post advertising the show, and then I can just link to that.
