Can someone please explain the difference between these two Ipod SoundDocks. Two different prices, but why? Thanks!

Maybe the second one has a smaller speaker?

The more expensive one is only slightly heavier and slightly wider than the cheaper one, so I doubt there's that much difference in speaker.

As far as I can see the only discernable difference is the cheaper one has a plastic border all the way round, whereas the more expensive one only has it on the two sides, and the expensive one has that metal line under the speaker that isn't on the cheaper one. So that seems to suggest either a newer model or the expensive one is a 'luxury' version of the cheaper one. Hard to say without the specifications stating components.

The difference is that one is more "portable" than the other (hence the word portable in the title of the more expensive one). With the higher priced one, the dock actually pushes back into the unit for travel, etc. I believe there may be a handle on the unit, too, but don't quote me on that. I have the cheaper one and have had for a little over a year and it is the best thing ever!! The sound is incredible, you won't regret buying it a bit! The speaker size has nothing to do with the price, the cheaper one is just the older model as they have come out with the travel one now. Mine was $399 when I got it, too.

As far as the "portable" part of things, maybe the more expensive one would make it easier in that department, but, if you aren't concerned about that, the cheaper one would be perfect.

My parents and sister both have one (the cheaper one), too, and they have absolutely no complaints in the slightest.

    Hope this helps!

    Sweet! :)

Thanks everyone! It looks like, when I can afford it, I'm going with the cheaper one
