Software to record from the radio

Well I'm hoping to record a concert from the radio on Thursday night. I'll be buying the necessary cable tomorrow and I've made sure there is more than enough free space on my hard disk. But I've never done this before so I have a few questions.
Firstly can anyone recommend some free software that is suitable for recording the input on my computer? And if anybody can give me some advice for getting the best possible reception or setting the volume levels or any other tips please let me know.
For anyone interested I'm recording Incubus' set from the Southside Festival in Germany this summer (which Pearl Jam also played!). And if my efforts are successful I'll be happy to share it here in whatever formats people would like. Thanks!

Screamer Radio is a very lightweight application that plays everything except Real Audio files. It also records to Mp3 format. All you need to do is select where you want the file to be on your pc.
If you have a link to your station, and there's a Listen Live link, right-click the link, copy it, open Screamer Radio, got to File > Open URL, and paste the link in the box, click OK, hear it play, and start recording.
Here's your download link:

If you are actually relying on rigging up a radio and lining in to your pc, then download the free Audacity program, and select the appropriate recording format (line in, or stereo mix or something like that, as opposed to microphone). Hit the red button. When you're finished, save what you've recorded to Mp3 format (see the preferences tab for the bitrate you want.)

If you don't know the station's name, what's its frequency and band? I'll see what I can come up with.
Unfortunately only 3 songs were broadcast but it's better than nothing. And of course I'll know exactly what to do next time there's something on.
Thanks again Fins for your help!
