Making VCDs

I saw a similar thread here a few weeks ago but it's gone now.

So I want to burn some video files to cd. Some are DAT files and some AVI.
Problem is they are all a bit larger than the 702 MB of a cd. Does anyone know a program that could allow me to burn these files direct to CD?

first off vcd is shit and you can pop a avi on a cd (if it all fits) and play it in most modern players. just make a data disc and if your player is Divx compatable (which like i said most are now) it will play at near dvd quaility. how much bigger are they then 700? not sure about dat files, but if you really want to make a vcd then nero is your program. it will allow you to split the file to fit it onto two seperate discs.

One of the things I have is a movie that i downloaded and it's 703 MB in size.
I tried making a dataCD like you've suggested but it won't fit.

The other is 2 discs of Soldier Field 95 in VCD quality from thearmyreserve. The files for each disc are around 780MB. I just assumed since that was how I'm Gone uploaded them then there was a simple way to fit them on cd without altering the files.

well i know with nero you can have a file be larger then 700 and fit it onto a disc. i believe its called "over burn" or something. it will also say "there is not enough room on the disc, disc will have to be finialized to continue" or something to that effect and it should work. im using full version nero7 i think.

for the soldier field one, if you cant get them on dvd's (could put both files on one dvd) then you will have to make 4 discs, splitting them with nero or another editing program.

Thanks again to both of you. I haven't got a dvd burner unfortunately so I guess I'll just have to get an editing program and chop the files up a bit. It's all good though cos I'm listening to the Gorge 2005 here at the mo, it's pretty sweet!

well hope i helped you in one way or another. get nero, its probably the best bruning program and you can edit the files like i said. you can get the latest verson from almost any torrent site.

still waiting on my gorge :(

I don't have a dvd burner or access to torrents! Haha, makes downloading and storing boots awkward but i manage.

And i live in Ireland btw, I was very surprised to find a package from seattle waiting for me when i got home yesterday, nice porch to close the main set there...
