iPod Gapless Playback

Are the bootlegs from basecamp supposed to run seamlessly from one song to the next when played on an iPod, because on mine it stops briefly before each track. On the song info on iTunes, there is a box checked indicating a "gapless album", but it still does not play that way. Can anyone help?

    MP3 compression tends to add blank space before and after each file. That may have something to do with it. I've never used ITunes/Ipods, so I don't know for sure. That Gapless album deal kind of sounds like it should do the trick, but maybe that only works with certain file types?
    Hello, I love you. Won't you tell me your name?

    Select the all the songs from a particular boot. Next, right click on the songs and select "Get Info". Then select "Gapless">Yes. It works pretty well unless there already is a gap at the beginning of the song.
  • HMMMM, I have "gapless-yes" selected for all the songs, and it does play that way on the computer, but still has gaps between songs on the iPod.

    Wherever there is an ipod thread, cutback will be there.

    this might be something as simple as needing to update the software on your Ipod, not Itunes itself but the actual Ipod cause I know when I did the screen that comes up when it's plugged in (the do not disconnect thing) icon changed a bit. try that

    I believe gapless playback only works on the newest ipod that just hit the market last year.

    What is Gapless Playback?

    Gapless playback means that there is no pause in playback between the end of one audio file and the beginning of the next audio file. This allows for playback of content with no gaps the way it was meant to be heard. Some examples of gapless albums include:

    * "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd
    * "Abbey Road" by The Beatles
    * Many live and classical albums

    Gapless Playback in iTunes

    Gapless playback is always on in iTunes 7 or later unless the Crossfade feature is turned on. If Crossfade is on, only audio files that have the "Part of a gapless album" option checked and are capable of being played gaplessly will play with no gaps:

    Gapless Playback on iPod

    iPod does not support crossfade playback and only some iPod models support gapless playback. For those models that do, all files that support gapless playback are played gaplessly whether or not the "Part of a gapless album" option is checked.
    Supported iPod models (make sure you have the latest iPod Software)

    * iPod nano (Second Generation)
    * Fifth Generation iPod
    * Fifth Generation iPod (Late 2006)

    So much for that, then. My iPod is old school pre-video :( Thanks for the info, though.

    The gapless playback is worth it alone, love listening to the boots without the gap.
