Why not update the board?

ViggoViggo Posts: 274
Why is this board so simple and not really good.

We can't post pictures here for example. It's really annoying to open each and every link just to see a little pic.

Let us at least be able to post pics that we could see them directly...

yes, your request is very good :)

i would also like to add to this request, that people who joined this board and haven't written any posts or written some posts and then stopped.......should be deleted.

Oh no!! Don't do that!! Some people I know have only a very small post count. And will probably never have a big post count.

Isn't there a way of deleting people that never use their log in by first confirming with them by emailing the address they registered with?

If there's no response then maybe, delete them?
    NOPE!!!

yes, this is a good idea :) , hopefully Kat and Sea will notice it

to be honest, what actually bothers me now, is my own privacy.....
i want to have a choice who can view all of my posts or threads.....right now anyone who is registered can log in and watch every single post that i make....which i don't feel comfortable with, so please Kat and Sea make some more privacy options :)

people post pictures in the Art Wall. but I hear what your saying. compared to other V-Bullietin message boards this one is a little bit behind. but I think its just a matter of what people get used to. this is a great board that could use some small upgrades in software or for example more smiley faces :):D

    I want the name Animus.

It's already taken, by who? I don't know. I've never seen this Animus character around.

My guess is they turn the image code off to keep things from bogging down. A lot of pictures, especially ones that are full size throw things off and make it slower to open threads.

Slower? How is that "all the other forums" don't have that problem? Pics won't be posted everywhere, just where it's asked for pictures and such.

    If they can, we can!

I think it's more irritating when you have to open every singel link just to view a little pic.

I can't see the board don't change this...

    I agree genie. That's a good idea. :)

I'd also like to see, that when the board gets really busy and everything slows down and gets difficult that the "guests" get booted off before the members. :)

I love it when people complain about a free service. Love it!!

Why don't you start your own board with the features you want if you do not like it?

I prefer the board the way it is. Pictures, avatars and the like are too distracting. One of the reasons I've stuck with this board is because it doesn't have a lot of distractions. And the bandwidth strain would slow the board down.

Not to be snarky (yea, it's a word. Google that shit, google magic my friend) but it is a question. If you read further down you'll find out. He generalized my whole message.

I am just saying that this board should be better. Why is picture posting and advance tools distracting? The pictures will of course only be posted were it's "needed".

ou yeah? how about i go into your account and click on the link that says "watch all posts made by Rygar" and start looking at every single post that you make, then write them all down...build a profile of who you are as a person...and maybe even stalk you...would you like that?

i don't mind when people look at my posts, i do however mind when someone looks only at my posts, and i wish that before they go ahead and watch all my posts they would ask for my permission.

hopefully that explains what i mean by *privacy*

Has this happened to you here? If so, bring it to the attention of the mods. As long as you don't give out any personal info in any of your posts no one will know who you are.

Making privacy limitations here on the board is bullshit! People should be able to see mine and your messages. This is the internet, relax genie (if that is your real name..).

no i'm not going to relax, ok?? if something like this bothers me i'm not going to just sit back and relax!

you know what? i'll be stalking you now and writing down all the personal details you going to say about yourself. and believe me after you've been on this board for a long time, i'll be able to make a good profile of you, and don't you worry, from gathering a little pieces of info here and there..... i will know a lot about you.........................

haha, just kidding i haven't got time to do that kind of stuff and i don't want to, but internet is full of weirdos and you never know someone might be doing what i've just said.

This makes a mild bit of sense, but internet stalking is pretty laughable, unless you're telling everyone your address, telephone number, etc, etc.
Cutback is right, though...if something this twisted has happened or is happening to you, then notify the mods.

It's not really the mod's responsibility to make sure your private information isn't given out, it's yours. Like the person before said...that's what PMs are for. Don't post info that you wouldn't want everyone to see in posts. If they made your post inaccessible without your permission, that would make portions of threads unavailable and completely void the whole point of the forum.

It's the internet. Watch what you say, monitor yourself...or get parental controls if you're that weirded out by it. If someone is actually stalking you like they said, report 'em. Otherwise, don't give them the information they need to stalk you in threads.

On topic...I like it the way it is. If you're internet connection is fast enough to load a page with pictures, then when you click on links to open them in other pages, it'd be just as fast.
bugs in the way...I feel about you

    oh, i give up!

    To Kat and Sea

i would really love, and you will make my day if my request will be fulfilled.
    so, i'll give some details...

in my account, there are two links one that says "view genie's threads" and the other one says "view genie's posts" , if someone wants to watch ONLY my posts or threads i'd like to be able to have a say, who can be allowed and who can't.
so, as they click those links i could decide whether to let them read or not.

p.s this site could do with some updating, but even as it is i like this web site. thank you :)

I found someone on the internet using just their last name and the town they lived in (which I converted to a postcode [or zipcode for Yanks]). That might not seem like easy information to get a hold of, but it can be... oh and I wasn't stalking them, I hadn't heard from them in a while and I was worried about them... I think I over-reacted a bit.

Just trying to put things in perspective.

I was wondering genie girl, coz I can understand your concerns, what if you could block access to the people that you don't want to be able to look at your threads or posts? That way as Lizardjam said, they would still be part of a thread and maintain the continuity of the thread and include your very important to the rest of us views :), but whomever you felt was taking an inordinate amount of interest in you specifically would be forced to read an entire thread to get access to all that you have to say. And perhaps by making it harder for them, they would give up and bugger off. :D Or even if you had them blocked they wouldn't be able to see what you had to say at all? That way you could feel comfortable to continue being your very lovely self, those of us who love you and reading what you have to say could continue and the person with the unhealthy practices would be stopped in his tracks.
I don't know, just a suggestion. I can completely understand where you are coming from on this. I'm just not sure about how it would affect the rest of us. Not being a computer whiz kid or anything! ;)

    Bingo.

It's not that the board is out dated it's, the administrators decide to only allow certain code to be "opened" for certain forums.

and it wouldn't slow the board down if they did allow this, they just choose not to.

    Agreed.

If the board was able to contain small avatars and signatures, sure, it'd be cool. But, I don't want anything to slow this down. I like how fast the board runs and I hope it remains that way.

Dead easy... online phone directories. Name and town of residency is more than enough to locate someone.
