USB Ports

My USB ports just stopped working for some reason. My IPOD and digital camera can not be detected. I was trying to plug in a PSP to put some music onto it when I got a message saying there was to much power going to the port. I then moved it to the other on but my computer never recognized the PSP.

I've looked at my device manager and it says everything is working properly.

Does this mean I fried out mu USB ports? Do I need to buy new ones and install them or is there some kind of fix?

I am no computer tech but am knowledgable enough to be dangerous (literally - help)

I did find other ports on the back of my computer that work. Yeah!

If anyone does have any suggestions on how to get the ones working on the front, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • You'll probably have to replace your USB card. They are relatively cheap at $20 to $30 max. Sounds like one of the busses from your ports to the card is fried. My computer has this problem as well...so I run a powered USB hub off the good port so it does not draw power from the CPU.
