I'm just curious if it's possible to put a password on a folder for the computer?

Depends what operating system you are running.

On Windows 2000 you can, you should be able to do it with any OS using NTFS file system, as it allows for file and folder level permissions.

If not, you can store your files in a Zip file and password protect it.

Yea, it looks like Windows NTFS systems handle folder level access by user permissions, so you would have to set up different user accounts and allow/restrict access by user account. Alternatively you can purchase 3rd party software that will allow you to password the folders directly, there are no doubt some freeware apps as well, but I doubt this method is very secure. Your best bet might be to use winzip and zip the files into a password protected zip file.

At my work we have a password file, which is only on my workstation, and only accessible by myself, my workmates in my department and the administrators. But, we've also locked the password file in a non-descript zip file with an alphanumeric password, so even the admins can't get it.
I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire
