What's the temp file? An .iso file or there's a folder created as VIDEO_TS, that's filled with .vob files?

Try this out. Download DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0.
    http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/

Pop the DVD inside the DVD tray. Click Mode > ISO > Read.
It will save the DVD as an .iso file to your HD.

To burn, still used DVD Decrypter.
Click Mode > ISO > Write.
Where it see on the main bar Source with Folder, double click it, pick the .ISO file you saved. Then pick the burn speed. BAM!!! Your burning baby! :)

Hope that helps. Best DVD Ripper & Burner on the market. And it's all free! :)

first thing you should do, is go to 'My Computer', then right click on the drive, then click on 'Properties', it should tell you the model info about your drive, if you can post the model here, i can help you out a lot more.

looking at what you posted "phillips cd-r/w (d)" to me means that you have a Cd writer, it might be able to make the image, but i'm not sure if its a DVD burner

most DVD drives (especially some of the older ones) are a bit awkward too, as there are a few different types of DVD you can buy , the main 2 being DVD-R, and DVD+R, and some of the older writers will only accept one format.

anyway, post the model number if you want to and i'll try and point you in the right direction.

when it comes to the discs, you should be able to use any brand, i'd recommend getting Verbatim discs if you can, they are a bit more expensive, but are good quality

if you definitely know its a dvd burner, then buy some DVD-R as most burners can use them
We did not change as we grew older; we just became more clearly ourselves.
